SMITH

Louis Smith, age 70, born to J.P. and Maggie Smith in Nacogdoches, Texas on February 6, 1935 passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2005. He was well known and liked throughout the Cleveland community and will surely be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie Carnes-McClain-Smith; mother Maggie Haseloff; daughter, Karen Lyn Stone; son, Kerry Louis Smith; brother, Edward Smith; grandchildren, Noah Stone, Alexis Smith, and Michael Smith with numerous other loving and caring family members and friends beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his father, J.P. Smith; brother, Sampson Smith, mother-in-law, Myrtle Carnes and his son, Troy Halford McClain.

Family and friends gathered together to pay their respects on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Clifton Wildridge conducted the service with his final resting place being at Brookside Cemetery, Houston, Texas.

GRAY

Dorris Faye Gray, age 81, of Tarkington Prairie, Cleveland, Texas passed away Monday, July 11, 2005. She was born in Marysee, Texas to O.C. and Tommie Cessna, Sr. on October 14, 1923. She is survived by her daughter, Eloyce Hollie; son, Kenneth Gray; sisters, Athele Thompson, Johnnie Winder, Elaine Coots; brothers, Charles Cessna, Earnest Cessna, Otis Cessna, Jim Cessna; grandchildren, Deidra and Jeff Watson, Mark and Gina Hollie, Carlos and Tammy Hollie, Christy and Greg Vance, Paul Gray; great grandchildren, Justin Hollie, Brandon Hollie, Whitney Hollie, Alexis Hollie, Joshua Watson, Kallie Vance, Garrett Vance and many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Gray; parents, Tommie and O.C. Cessna, Sr.; daughter, Rhonda Jean Gray. Family and friends gathered together to pay their respects on Thursday, July 14, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church of Tarkington, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Ryan Cemetery.

 

WHITENER

Evie May Whitener, age 81, born September 9, 1923 to Archibald and Ruby Lee Shoemake, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2005. She is survived by her children, Nancy Laura Mays, Charlotte Gay Andrews, James “Jim” Clark Whitener; sisters, Margie Carpentier, Mildred Walker; grandchildren, Jay McClain, Beth Alford, Allison McClain, Amy Mauck, Laurie Jarrett, Chris Lewis, LeAnn Fuller, Noah Mays, Nancy McClain, Andy McClain; seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Noah L. Whitener. Family and friends gathered together to pay their respects on Thursday, July 14, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Bob White and Rev. Harry Thrasher conducted the service with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

MORSE

Bessie May Morse, age 85, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2005. She was born in Houston, Texas to Thomas Oliver and Della Berry Caylat, Sr. on November 23, 1919.

She is survived by her daughters, Vada Syphrett and husband, Kenneth of Cleveland, Texas, Jewel Wisiackas and husband, Philip of Coldspring, Texas, Maggie Lorraine Dehkord and husband, Jay of Conroe, Texas; son, Rudolph Lester Wilson, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ken Jr., Sharon, Cynthia, Donna, Hewy, Daman, Kathy, Bill, Kimberly, Richard, Glorianna, Dana, and Trudy; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Artivelt Morse.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 15, 2005, 10:00 a.m., at Magnolia Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Magnolia Cemetery

MITCHELL

Edd L. Mitchell, Jr., age 84, born to Edd L. and Mattie L. Mithcell, Sr., on January 14, 1921, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Viola Mitchell; daughters, Debra Hill and husband, Mike, Judy Wellborn and husband, Doug; sister, Dolly Ruth Armatys; grandchildren, Eric Wellborn, Lacy Hill; dear family friends, Joe and Jerrie Williamson and many nieces and nephews and other loving and caring family members and friends. Rev. George Hayden conducted funeral services held Friday, July 15, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Cleveland Memorial Cemetery.
