CHARLES “DUTCH” PHILLIPS
Charles "Dutch" Phillips, born August 6, 1934 to
John and Iva Mae Phillips in Nacogdoches, Texas, died October
1, 2005 in Cold Springs, Texas. He was preceded in death by
a son Clay Granberry. He is survived by his beloved wife Wanda
Ruth, sons DJ Phillips and Donald Granberry, daughters Laura
Rinehart and husband Charles, Brenda Meyers and Virginia Harmon.
Grandchildren - Rusty, Delynn, Clay Jr. and Helen Granberry,
Marlana Camacho and husband Alex, Angela Phillips and Justin
Meyers. Great-grandson Marcel Camacho and many dear relations
and close friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 5th
from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland
Texas. Memorial services will be on Thursday, October 6th
at 11:00 am at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Cremation to follow.
Newkirk
Nancy Isabelle Whitten Newkirk, 91, of Shenandoah, died Saturday,
October 2, 2005, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital
in Houston.
Graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Monday, October 3,
2005, at the Guedry Cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be
held from 9 Am to noon, Monday, at the funeral home. Services
are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Nancy was born November 5, 1913 in Navasota, was a former
resident of Alice and The Woodlands for 10 years, and has
resided in the Shenandoah area for the past two years. She
was a homemaker, graduate of the Saratoga High School class
of 1929, member of the Order of Eastern Star in Alice, Past
President of the Texas Medical Auxiliary, and former Boy Scout
Den Mother. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, was an accomplished
pianist, and loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Newkirk was preceded in death by her father: Jessie Scott
Whitten, mother: Emma Cecilia Robertson Whitten, husband:
William ‘Dr. Bill’ Newkirk, sons: Scott and Bill
Flowers, and granddaughters: Brenda Flowers Nixon and Rebecca
Flowers Duncan. She is survived by her son: Aubrey J. Flowers
and wife Barbara of Boerne, daughter: Susan Wallis and husband
Jim of The Woodlands, grandchildren: James Flowers, Patricia
Matthews, Shannon Edwards, Michael Flowers, Scott Flowers,
Beau Flowers, Taylor Wallis, Todd Keuper, Jeff Keuper, and
Travis Keuper, great-grandchildren: Courtney Shannon, Ryan
Edwards, Michael Edwards, Jake Edwards, Griffin Matthews,
Mimi Matthews, Marie Duncan, Brendan Nixon, Scott Nixon, and

Eggleston
Earl Roy Eggleston, 73, of Houston, died Monday, October
3, 2005, at his residence in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Friday, October 7,
2005, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation
will be held from 10 Am to 2 Pm, Friday, at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home
in Dayton.
Earl was born September 21, 1932 in Dunkerton, IA, to parents;
Ernest and Florence Firestone Eggleston, a former resident
of Dayton, and has resided in the Houston area for the past
37 years. He was a graduate of the Aurora High School class
of 1949, had attended Fayette University in Iowa, veteran
of the US Army with service during the Korean War, retired
superintendent for T. O. James Construction of Waco after
35 years of employment, and enjoyed using his metal detector,
fishing, hunting, woodworking and carpentry, and playing cards.
Mr. Eggleston was preceded in death by his parents, son: Michael
Wayne Eggleston, and sister: Delores Stevenson. He is survived
by his wife: Claudia Hansen Eggleston of Houston, sons: Pat
Eggleston and wife Barbara of Dayton, Rick Eggleston and wife
Meredith of Tomball, and Jeff Howlett and wife Jane of Bristol,
RI, daughters: Lori Sager and husband James of Highlands,
Lisa Wilson and husband Mike of The Woodlands, Carrie Howlett
of Houston, and Lisa Womack and husband Hurl of Houston, sister:
Barbara Wilcox of Milaca, MN, brother-in-law: Steve Stevenson
of Mansfield, 12 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews,
other relatives, and friends.

Henderson
Bessie M. Keith Henderson, 91, of Hull, died
Sunday, October 9, 2005, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital
Alexander Campus.
Funeral services will be held at 10 Am, Thursday, October
13, 2005, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton
with graveside services at 4 Pm, Thursday, at the Cedarvale
Cemetery in Bay City. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to
9 Pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the
direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Bessie was born June 17, 1914 in Edna, to parents; Martin
L. and Nancy Leona Quattlebaum Keith, a former resident of
Bay City and Lawrence, KS, and was presently a resident of
the Hull-Daisetta area. She was a homemaker, member of the
United Pentecostal Church, and enjoyed reading her bible,
listening to gospel music, crocheting, and quilting.
Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her father: Martin
Looper Keith, mother: Nancy Leona Quattlebaum Black, husband:
John D. Henderson, son: James ‘J.D.’ Henderson,
brothers: Thomas and John Henry, and sisters: Josephine and
Lillian. She is survived by her daughters: Joyce DeBarge and
husband Sonny of Hull and Aline Holtzman and husband J. of
Lawrence, KS, sons: John E. Henderson and wife Myrtle of Houston,
Ken Henderson of Livermore, CA, and Levy Henderson and wife
Peggy of Greenville, SC, brothers: William B. Keith and James
Black, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Tolbert
Helen Tolbert, age 79, of New Caney, Texas passed
away Sunday, October 9, 2005. She was born in Vivian, Louisiana
to Morris and Carrie Sandlin on August 22, 1926.
She is survived by her husband, Sterling O. Tolbert, daughter,
Linda Hogan Dibble, son, Donald Eugene Hogan, six grandchildren;
eleven great-grandchildren and many other loving family members
and caring friends. She is preceded in death by her, grandson,
Michael Eugene Lehnis; three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 12, 2005, 2:00
p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
Bro. Andy Hunt of New Caney Family Worship Center, conducted
the service with interment at Oak Shade Cemetery, Cleveland,
Texas.
DUMESNIL
Robert Charles Dumesnil, age 67, of Cleveland,
Texas, passed away Monday, Octobeer 10, 2005. He was born
to Claude C. and Eula Paula Dumesnil in Houston, Texas on
November 3, 1937. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He worked for Port-Terminal as an engineer. He is survived
by his wife, Mary Koska Dumesnil; daughters, Cindy, Caroline;
sons, Robert C. Dumesnil, Jr., Robert Lynn Dumesnil, Teddy
Koska, John Hagan, Kenny Dumesnil, Charles Dumesnil, John
Dumesnil; sisters, Claudia, Elizabeth and Dorris; brothers,
Jack Dumesnil, Ray Dumesnil; grandchildren, Julie Lynn Dumesnil,
Andrew Koska, Dorothy Koska, Pauline Koska and Gage Dumesnil
and many other loving and caring family members and friends.
JEFFERSON
Peerless E. Jefferson, age 80, of Cleveland, Texas, passed
away Monday, October 10, 2005. He was born in Hugo, Oklahoma
to Wallace and Rosa Jefferson on July 10, 1925. He is survived
by his loving wife, Nita Beth Jefferson; son, Charles Jefferson;
daughters, Brenda Kelley and husband, Tommy, Diane Gretencord
and husband, David; grandchildren, Randy Robertson, Tom Kelley,
Bill Kelley, Clark Jefferson, Jeremy Gretencord, Sunny Marsh;
great-grandchildren, Makayla Jefferson and Lexi Banks; sisters,
Mary Francis Jefferson Yeary, Colleen Jefferson Butcher; numerous
nieces and nephews, and many other family members and countless
friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Palmer Stephens.

David Barclay Opryshek, age 17, of Splendora, Texas, passed
away October 10, 2005. He was born in Houston, Texas to Karl
Opryshek and Angela L. Ott on July 11, 1988. He was a Baptist
in faith and lived in the Cleveland Community for 14 years.
He is survived by his parents, Karl and Deborah Opryshek,
Agnela and Kyle Ott; grandparents, Carole Opryshek, Kirby
and Barbara Mills, Gail Young; great-grandmother, Evelyn Mills;
sisters, Sabrina Morgan, Joy Ott; brothers, Steven Opryshek,

Steven Matthew Meeks, age 34, of Shepherd, Texas, passed
away Wednesday, October 12, 2005. He was born in Cleveland,
Texas to Jessie and Marie Lorene Meeks on October 9, 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Meeks; daughter, Morgan
Lorene Meeks; sisters, Patricia Franklin, Barbara Mitchell,
Virginia Wheat, Charlotte Flynn, Jessie Lang; brother, Ronald
Harp; nephews, Victoria Eason, Jody Franklin, Cassie Halbrooks,
Melissa Harp, Lisa Harrell, Amanda Arrendell, Danielle Lang,
Elizabeth Lang; many other loving family members and caring
friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Meeks;

p.m. at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas.
Ross
Nadine May Ross, 75, of Liberty, died Thursday, October 13,
2005, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Sunday, October 16,
2005, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with
burial following at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation
will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Saturday, at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home
in Dayton.
Nadine was born December 20, 1929 in Liberty, to parents;
Lou and Emma Holland May, and has resided in the Liberty area
throughout her life. She was a homemaker and member, Sunday
school teacher, and nursery volunteer at the Heights Baptist
Church in Liberty. She also enjoyed Embroidery, sewing, painting,
gardening, and working crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her parents and sister:
Jewel Payne. She is survived by her husband: J.D. Ross, Jr.
of Liberty, son: David Ross and wife Susan of Rockwood, TN,
daughter: Debbie Graves and husband randy of Dayton, sisters:
Dorothy ‘Aunt Cupie’ Cornelius of Liberty and
Maxine Ray of Cleveland, brother: E. B. Young of Hardin, five
grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
BOWER
Christine Bower, age 91 born July 31, 1914, of Coldspring,
Texas, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005. She is survived
by her sister, Frankie Matthews and numerous nieces and nephews
and other loving family members and caring friends. She is
preceded in death by her husband, George Bower. Funeral services
were held Sunday, October 16, 2:30 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral
Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Herbert Zimmerman conducted
the service with interment at Hayman Cemetery.
CLARK
Wilma Ethel Clark, age 88 of Huntsville, Texas, passed away,
Thursday, October 13, 2005. She was born in Overton, Texas
to S.H. and Sybil Barton on October 5, 1917.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Nelson and husband,
Stanley of Dallas, Texas, Diane Dow and husband, Norman of
Coldspring, Texas; grandchildren, Beth Antonisse and husband,
John, Shelly Brady and husband, Mike, Patrick Hughett, Trey
Clark and wife, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Robert Duke,
Jordan Antonisse, Christian Antonisse, Eden Antonisse and
many other loving family members and friends. She is preceded
in death by her husband, Pat Clark; sisters, Theresa Murrell,
Sammy Kail and Jane Ezwoh Gennusa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October, 15, 2005, 2:00
p.m. at Coldspring United Methodist Church. Pastor Capri Grimes
and Bro. Don Willis conducted the service with interment at
Oakwood Cemetery, Coldspring, Texas.
MERCER
Thelma Faye “Duke” Mercer, a loving mother, sister,
grandmother and great grandmother went to be with our Lord
on October 15, 2005, after a long happy life and a short battle
with Cancer, at the age of 70. She was born on August 14,
1935.
She was known by all who met her for her infectious and friendly
personality. She was a stubbornly strong and independent woman
who knew how to get things accomplished and did them her way.
She loved her career because of the camaraderie among her
peers. She was awarded many honors, throughout her nearly
30 years of employment, with the Horace Mann Companies which
included; “Agent of the Month” on numerous occasions
as well as the “Quarterly Top Producer “several
times. She was the first woman to be inducted into the Insurance
Hall of Fame which further reflects her success in business.
Although, if you were to ask her, she would tell you that
her greatest accomplishment was her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Viola and Plennie
Duke, her brothers Billy Wayne Duke, J.D. Mathison, and Doug
Mitchell as well as her sister Ruby Kuykendall.
She is survived by her loving daughter Diane Lucero, of Dallas,
Texas; son Billy Mercer and wife Kae of Lewisville, Texas
and Gary Mercer.
Her loving sisters Janette Goodman of Baytown, Texas; Bess
Lee of Crosby, Texas; Mary Kuykendall of Corpus Christi Lake,
Texas; Wilma Graham of Sebastopol, Mississippi; Berti Jo Kinsey
and her husband Bill of Archer City, Texas; and by Brenda
Dugas and her husband Paul of Layfatte Louisiana as well as
her brother Jack Duke and his wife Ann of Pasadena, Texas;
5 grandchildren Charles Pettigrew, Christiana Lucero, Colt
Mercer, Staci Mercer and April Rucker; and 4 great grandchildren.
She had several nieces and nephews and also leaves a treasured
extended family and a wonderful lifetime of friends.
We would like to give a special Thank You to the Hospice of
Wichita Falls for all of their support and for their wonderful
care giving and would like to ask that any donations to please
be made to the Hospice of Wichita Falls in the name of Thelma
Mercer to show our appreciation.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at
Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas with an
inspirational message delivered by Reverend Melvin Graham
in the honor of her memory to celebrate her life, but not
morn her passing.
GRIMSLEY
Gladys Marie Grimsley, age 85, of Cleveland, Texas, passed
away Saturday, October 15, 2005. She was born in Mansfield,
Louisiana to Gordie Webb and Ila Gladys Oliver on January
8, 1920.
She is survived by his daughter, Margery Ann Darnell; son
Johnny Grimsley and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Bill Lindley
Strahan and wife Lisa, Jason Grimsley and wife Dana, Joe Grimsley
and wife Lynn, Jennifer Lei Darnell; great-grandchildren,
Travis Austin Strahan, Trevor Fulton Strahan, Trenton Lindley
Strahan, Hunter Ray Grimsley, John Quinton Grimsley, Rayne
Kay Grimsley, Justin Berryhill and Chandler Berryhill. She
is preceded in death by her sons, Bobby James and Richard
Glenn Grimsley; sister, Mercedes Mizell; and brother, Fulton

p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Rev.
Joel McMahon and Rev. Larry Smith conducted the service with
interment at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.
STEELE
Oliver Dean Steele, age 75, of Cleveland, Texas passed away
Monday, October 17, 2005. He was born in Streetman, Texas
to Lemuel Dean and Willie Mae Steele on December 29, 1929.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Steele; daughters, Karen Franklin
and husband, Ricky; sons, David Steele and wife, Sandy, Lemuel
Steele and wife, Candy, Van Steele and wife, Debbie; sisters,
Georgia and husband, Gerald, Mattie Bell and husband, Roger;
grandchildren, Trista, Stacie, Lemuel, Jr., Randy, Raymond,
Ricky, Jr., Chase, Brandan, Kassidy, Jonathan, and Brandon;
great-grandchildren, Madison, Nathaniel, Hunter, Haley, Terry

and caring friends. He is preceded in death by his mother,

McCreight
Patricia ‘Patsy’ Odom McCreight, 62, of Liberty,
died Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held at 10 Am, Thursday, October
20, 2005, at the V. R. Fregia Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation
will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Wednesday, at the funeral
home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral
Home in Dayton.
Patsy was born December 16, 1942 in Beaumont, to parents;
Lazarus A. and Marie M. Gibson Odom, a former resident of
Saratoga, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past
29 years. She was a self employed beautician and worked out
of the 3802 Beauty Shop, attended the Crosby Church, and enjoyed
quilting, cooking, and gardening.
Mrs. McCreight was preceded in death by her parents. She is
survived by her daughters: Machell Johnston and husband Dale
of Anahuac and Tonya Cangemi and husband Douglas of Cleveland,
sons: Randall Stiles and wife Ronda of Anahuac and Calvin
Stiles and wife Natasha of Cold Spring, sisters: Ida Caswell
and husband Mike of New Orleans, Janice Thomas and husband
Ray of Sun City, AZ, and Eunice Thornton of Talula, LA, brothers:
James Odom and wife Linda of Spurger and Larry Odom and wife
Cecilia of Spurger, grandchildren: Jeremy, Matt, Ryan, Austin,

Sullivan
Jack Paul Sullivan, 60, of Dayton, died Wednesday, October
19, 2005, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at 2 Pm, Sunday, October 23,
2005, at the Community Christian Church on FM 1409, in Dayton.
Visitation will be held from 10 Am to 5 Pm, Saturday, at the
funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil
Funeral Home in Dayton.
Jack was born January 26, 1945 in Beaumont, to parents; Roy
D. “Tootum” and Ruby “Poodle” Chesson
Sullivan, a former resident of Winnie and has resided in the
Dayton area for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of the
Anahuac High School, a contract welder for many businesses
in the area, and enjoyed bull and bareback riding and calf
roping, and fishing.
Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived
by his wife of 29 years: Jimmie Lynn Pruitt Sullivan of Dayton,
daughters: Rhonda Ponder and husband Bert of MS, Renee Schexsnaider
and husband Barry of Anahuac, and Maggie Melancon and husband
Lance of Sugar Land, son: Shawn Paul Sullivan of Dayton, sister:
Justine Reno of Barrett Station, brothers: Doug Sullivan and
wife Sandy of Llano and Jimmy Ray Sullivan and wife Brenda
of Beaumont, brother-in-law: Roy Pruitt and wife Lin of Dayton,
mother-in-law: Mae Beth Trousdale Pruitt of Dayton, four grandchildren,

Mager
Gilbert Reinhold Mager, born April 9, 1925
passed away on October 19, 2005. He was born to Adelia
Frieske and Reinhold Andrew Mager in Taylor, Texas. Gilbert
proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Yorktown
During WWII and retired his military career as an aerial
photographer with the US Air Force on December 1, 1965.
He was employed at Rhom & Haas in Deer Park for over
30 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Edna
Louise Mager; sister: Della Mae Bax; brothers: Milton
Mager and Marvin Mager. He is survived by his daughters:
Kathleen Talley of Baytown, Frances Beever of League City,
Mary Lou Johnson of Friendswood and Paula Jean Adams of
Dickinson, grandchildren: Jarett Talley, Hayley Richards,
James Thomas, Allie Johnson and Heather Anne Russell,
and his great-grandchildren Kalub Richards, Brittany Russell

Sandra Louise Martin, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Thursday,
October 20, 2005 at the age of 70. She was born in Minneapolis,
Minnesota to Robert and Isabelle Jones on July 9, 1935.
She is survived by her loving Husband of 14 Years, Lee Martin;
daughters, Heidi Bertrum, Melissa Martin and husband, Anthony;
sons, Kevin Morse and wife, Barbara, Christapher Morse and
wife, Sandra, Mark Morse; step-daughters, Lanise Quinn and
husband, Joseph, Wanda Cadwallader and husband, Lewis; brother,
Robert Jones; grandchildren, Jody Hesse, Jonathan Morse, Matthew
Morse, Christapher Martin, Doryl Martin, Nathan Morse, Jacob
Morse, Samantha Morse and Paula Morse; step-grandchildren,

Litton
Aaron Lee Litton, 21, of Dayton, died Friday, October 21,
2005 at Ben Taub Hospital. He was born August 7, 1984 in Glendale,
West Virginia. He attended Dayton High School and worked at
Empire Steel as an iron worker.

AMOS
Earl Edward Amos of Cleveland, Texas passed away Friday,
October 21, 2005 at the age of 75. He was born in Roanoke,
Virginia on December 10, 1928. He was a resident of the Romayor
Community for the last 2 years and former resident of Floyd,
Virginia. He was a member of SKPS (RV Club) for more than
10 years. He had many opportunities to travel and made numerous
friends. He is survived by his daughter, Rose Marie Wade and
son-in-law, Troy of Myakka City, Florida.
Stines
Karen Mae Stines, 54, of Anahuac, died October 22, 2005 at
home after a lengthy illness. She was born February 10, 1951
in Anahuac, Texas to father, William James Stines, Jr. and
mother Beatrice Wilson Stines. She was a life long resident
of Anahuac where she had worked in retail sales, a member
of the Baptist Church in Anahuac and a graduate of Anahuac
High School.
She was preceded in death by her father and is survived by
her mother: Beatrice Stines of Anahuac; Daugther: Tiffany
Stines of Houston; Brother: Peter Shines of Anahuac and Paul
Stines of Seattle, Washington.
There are no services scheduled at this time for Karen. Arrangements
are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
PRESSWOOD
Pat Alan Presswood, 53, went home to be with the Lord on
Monday, October 24, 2005 at his residence. He was born on
August 20, 1952 in Conroe, Texas and resided in Plum Grove
most of his life. Mr. Presswood was a Vietnam War veteran
who proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1970-1973,
defending our country’s freedom. He worked in the trucking
industry for many years and most recently was employed by
Jerry Standley until his health failed him. Mr. Presswood
has attended Crossroads Assembly of God Church of Splendora
for a number of years. During this time, he became close friends
with his pastor and cooking buddy, Charlie Burton. This devoted
and loving husband, father, and grandfather, will be most
remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, love for fishing,
and barbeque cooking. He will be greatly missed by family
and friends, but they are confident that he is now rejoicing
in the presence of Jesus and completely healed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Seab Alton Presswood,
and mother, Dora Lee McClain. He is survived by his loving
wife and friend, Charlotte Presswood; brother, Michael Presswood
and wife, Liz of Plum Grove, TX; daughter, Amy Kyles and husband,
Cargil of Katy, TX; daughter, Lori Boehm and husband, Chris
of Plum Grove, TX; son, Jake Hoot and wife, Kim of Coldspring,
TX; grandchildren, Kristen Boehm, Ryan Boehm, David Hoot,
Justin Hoot, Josh Carey and Brian Carey; nephews, Seab Presswood,
Scotty Presswood and numerous other family members and a host
friends.
Rev. Charlie Burton and Rev. Herb Hawthorne conducted the
funeral service held Friday, October 28, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment
at Plum Grove Cemetery in Plum Grove. Jesse Hawthorne, James
Graham, Jimmy Kelso, Jackie Kelso, Bill Kelso and Ronnie Gray
all served as his pallbearers.
SUMBERLIN
Daphne Michelle Sumberlin, of Cleveland, Texas passed away
Monday, October 24, 2005 in a fatal auto accident. She was
born in Belaire, Texas to Harold R. and Polly McSween on November
8, 1966.
She is leaving behind her husband, Ronald Eugene Sumberlin;
son, Justin M. McSween; mother, Polly McSween; brothers, Malcolm
McSween and wife, Carrie, Davy McSween, Omer McSween, nieces
and nephews, Malcolm Christopher, Crystal, Candice, Danny,
Amy, Harold James; brothers-in-laws, David Anders and Dean
Anders; sister-in-law, Nancy Anders and many other loving
family members and caring friends. She is preceded in death
by her father, Harold McSeen; grandparents, Omer and Margaret
McSween; Marvin and Hattie Springfellow, brother-in-law, Dale
Anders.
Bro. Melvin Holifield conducted a memorial service on Friday,

Mooney
Charles S. Mooney passed into the loving arms of his Savior
Jesus Christ on October 25, 2005. He was born September 26,
1925 in Pelly, Texas and graduated from Channelview High.
He had an antique car business for over 30 years. Mr. Mooney
enjoyed playing dominoes and poker. He loved to ride motorcycles
especially the Harleys and he had a special love for his black
lab Bo and cats Tom and Callie.
Service for Mr. Mooney will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October
29, 2005 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton, Tx.
The Rev. Danny Biddy will be officiating and interment will
follow at Palms Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Imogene
C. Mooney, his parents and four sisters. He leaves to cherish
his memory, son: Dale Mooney and Jody; daughters: Kay Stratmann
and Gerry, Gale Stuckey and Steve, Pat Rogers and Don; sisters:

Don Morris of Cleveland, Texas passed away Thursday,
October 27, 2005 at the age of 77. He was born in Houston,
Texas on June 02, 1928. He was a resident of the Cleveland
Texas for the last 25 years and former resident of Houston,
Texas. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Morris; daughter,
JoAnn Lawson and husband Charles; grandson, Curtis Lawson
and wife Amy; great granddaughter Caroline Lawson; brothers
in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and a many other loving
family members and countless friends. Funeral services were
held Sunday, October 30, 2005, 2:00 p.m at Calvary Baptist
Church, Cleveland, Texas. Bro Carl Williamson conducted the
service with interment at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Earlene Lois Davis, 88, of Coldspring, Texas,
passed away October 28, 2005. She was born in Plantersville,
Texas to Thomas and Belle Dee Thompson on September 7, 1917.

Mitchell
Billy G. Mitchell, 76, of Liberty, died Friday,
October 28, 2005, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital
in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Monday, October 31,
2005, at the Pentecostal Tabernacle on FM 2830 in Liberty
with burial following at Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty.
Visitation will be held from 1 Pm and continue through Monday,
at the church on Sunday. Services are under the direction
of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Billy was born May 7, 1929 in Orange to parents; Ivey W. Mitchell
and Nettie E. Hemmingway, and has resided in the Liberty area
for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of the US Army with
service during WW II, a retired oil field supervisor, member
of the Pentecostal Tabernacle, and enjoyed fishing, playing
golf, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Casey Lee Simpson Estep, 27, of Cleveland, Texas,
passed away October 29, 2005. He was born in Texas City, Texas
to Dickie Lee and Wanda Jean Estep on September 22, 1976.
He is survived by his mother, Wanda Hefferman
and husband, John; father, Dickie Lee Estep; grandmother,
Anita Hefferman; son, Shade Timothy Regal Ado; fiancé,
Michelle Stewart and her children, Britney and Johnathan and
their favorite aunt, Brenda Golden, all from Scottsboro, Alabama;

James E. ‘Jim’ Priest, 71, of Dayton
died Monday, October 31, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Friday,
November 4, 2005, at the Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Crosby
with burial following at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.
Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home
in Dayton.
Jim was born October 4, 1934 in Jackson, TN
to parents; Charles E. Priest and Floy M. Joyner, a former
resident of LaPorte and has resided in the Dayton area for
the past 32 years. He was a graduate of the Walnut Mississippi
High School class of 1953, veteran of the US Army with service
during the Korean War, retired database administrator from
M.D. Anderson Hospital after ten years of employment, member
and former treasurer and youth group leader of the Our Shepherd
Lutheran Church in Crosby, member of the American Legion,
and he also enjoyed woodworking, electronics, and computers.
Mr. Priest was preceded in death by his parents:
Charles E. Priest and Floy M. Joyner Jones, and a sister:
Patricia Wamble. He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Shirley
E. Stoll Priest of Dayton, sons: Kurt Priest and wife Sherri
of Ft. Knox, KY and Jon Priest of Houston, granddaughters:
Amanda A. Priest of Richmond, Julie A. Priest of Ft. Knox,
KY, and Cynthia E. Priest of Ft. Knox, KY, and numerous other
relatives and friends.
