DAVIS
Barbara Ann Davis of Coldspring, Texas, passed
away Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Cleveland Regional Medical
Center. She was born in St. Martinville, Louisiana to Percy
and Betty Champagne, Sr. on June 19, 1947.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph T. Davis; son,
Chad Davis and wife, Sylvia; grandchildren, Chad Davis, Jr.,
Trazanna Davis, Kobe Davis, Star Davis, Alliyah Davis; brothers,
Nathan Champagne, James Champagne, Danny Champagne, David
Champagne, Richy Champagne; sister, Lisa Champagne and Kathleen
Champagne and many other loving and caring family members
and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother,
Percy A. Champagne, Jr. She will surely be missed by all who
knew and loved her.
No services were held.
WOOD
Emory E. Wood of Houston, Texas passed away
Thursday, February 2, 2006. He was born in Cascade, MO to
James Albert and Bessie Wood on March 2, 1913.
He is survived by his loving wife, Oleta Wood;
children, Peggy Ann Wood, and Donna Estelle Beauchamp; grandchildren,
brothers, Amos Wood, Erby Wood; sister, Gladys Palme; many
nieces and nephews and other loving family members and caring
friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, 2/4/06, 5:00
to 7:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.
Graveside services will be Sunday, 2/5/06, 2:30 p.m. at Montague
Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas with Rev. John Cain conducting
the service.
EGGLESTON
James Ray Eggleston, age 71, of Shepherd, Texas,
passed away, Thursday, February 2, 2006. He was born in Houston,
Texas to Artie Leon and Eula Mae Carroll on March 25, 1934.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Eggleston; daughters,
Robbie Hall and husband, Allen, Terrie Roberts and husband,
Lee, Susan Tran and husband, Trung, Patty Sieg and her husband,
Keith, Peggy Walker and husband, Gregg; sister, May Len Hicks;
brother, Alvin Eggleston; six grandchildren and many other
loving and caring family members and friends.
Memorial services were held 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 6,
2006, Pace-Stancil funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
Scott
Michael R. “Mike” Scott, 53, of Dayton, died
Saturday, February 4, 2006, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Tuesday, February
7, 2006, at the Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton with burial
following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 Am to
5 Pm, Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the
direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Mike was born December 1, 1952 in Brady, to parents; George
W. and Bonnie L. White Scott, a former resident of Baytown,
and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 20 years.
He was a electrician for Brown and Root before becoming disabled,
member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton, and enjoyed
spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and is survived
by his wife of 13 years: Cyndi Knerr Scott, daughters: Kayla
Scott, Sonya Scott, and Sheri Scott, son: Benjamin Scott,
brother: David Scott, two nephews, and numerous other relatives,
and friends.
LaBuff
L. V. LaBuff, 75, of Dayton, died Sunday, February 5, 2006,
at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 Am, Wednesday, February
8, 2006, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with burial
following at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation
will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home
in Dayton.
L.V. was born January 13, 1931 in Simmons Bottom to parents;
Frank and Lena Mae Dunn LaBuff, and has resided in the Dayton
area throughout his life. He was a retired heavy equipment
operator, member of the Trinity Baptist Church, member of
the International Union of Operating Engineers, and enjoyed
buying and training horses, and ranching.
Mr. LaBuff was preceded in death by his parents, sisters:
Elsie Lou Sims, Emma Lou Trout, and Katy Buckner, and brothers:
Daniel LaBuff, Martin LaBuff, and J. J. LaBuff. He is survived
by his wife of 50 years: Peggy Littlefield LaBuff of Dayton,
sons: Raymond Lee LaBuff of Shepherd, Roy Earl LaBuff and
wife BeBe of San Antonio, Elvis Frank LaBuff and wife Jeanie
of Huntington, and Tracy Kent LaBuff and Twila of Dayton,
daughter: Shele’ Joyce Miles of Cleveland, sisters:
Madelyn Durdin of Dayton and Nona Rios of Baytown, nine grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other
relatives, and friends.
MAJORS
Karen Ann Majors, age 54, of Rye, Texas, passed away Tuesday,
February 7, 2006. She was born in Houston, Texas to Harvey and
Helen Emerson on November 5, 1951 of whom preceded her in death
along with her brother, Chris Emerson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Majors; sons,
Jeffery Knox, Ronnie Knox; sisters, Elizabeth Sawyer, Judy Bradley,
Brenda Anderson; brothers, Walter Emerson, John Emerson and
many other loving family members and caring friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, February 11, 2006, 2:00
p.m. at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
CUMBA
There is a new angel in heaven. On Wednesday,
February 8, 2006, Una Olene Cumba, passed peacefully from
this life in Cleveland, TX after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born to Ulysses Simpson and Josie Lee Grant on November
17, 1921 in Olustee, OK. In 1940, she married the love of
her life, Rubin Lee Cumba, and they formed a union that was
to last over 48 years. Mrs. Cumba had a deep love for music
in both playing instruments and singing. She worked in food
service and retired from Calhoun County I.S.D. She was preceded
in death by her one and only, Rubin Lee Cumba, as well as
4 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her children,
Sharon Joy Blake, Simpson Lee Cumba and Roger Darrell Cumba;
sister, Gertie Masterson of Mineral Wells; 7 grandchildren,
9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends
she left behind wherever she lived. The family will receive
friends at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on Friday, February 10,
2006 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 9:00
a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2006, in the funeral home chapel
with Pastor Daniel Goodman officiating. Graveside services
will be at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in Greenlawn Garden Cemetery
in Port Lavaca, TX.
Lumpkins
Delwin Ernest Lumpkins, of Liberty, Texas, passed away on
February 8, 2006, after a brave battle with cancer. Delwin
was a retired Superintendent for the Samson Companies. He
was born January 15, 1934, to Irwin Roy and Della May Lumpkins,
who both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage
on May 3, 1951, with Ramona E. Gates, and they had six children
who all survive him: Leanna Davis and husband, Ed, of Nacogdoches,
Texas; Delwin Eugene Lumpkins and wife, Jill, of Hutchinson,
Kansas; Ronald Lumpkins of Russell, Kansas; Dwight Lumpkins
and wife, Nancy, of Liberty, Texas; Loren Lumpkins of Liberty,
Texas, and Lonnie Lumpkins and wife, Mandy, of Kilgore, Texas.
He is also survived by 2 brothers, Earl Lumpkins and wife,
Juanita of Palco, Kansas; Keith Lumpkins and wife, Grace of
Chase, Kansas; also two sisters, Virginia King and husband,
Daryl of Parker, Colorado; and Lorna Kay Lumpkins of Hays,
Kansas. He was also preceded in death by sister, Royalyn Nelson,
grandson, Michael Shane Lumpkins, and granddaughter, Lauren
Rose Lumpkins. He is survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great
grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and
friends.
A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal
Church in Liberty, Texas, on Thursday, February 16, 2006,
at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday,
February 18, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s United Church
of Christ Cemetery in Holyrood, Kansas. For those wishing
to honor Delwin’s memory, in lieu of flowers, the family
is requesting donations to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center,
P. O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas, 77210-4486. Services are under
the arrangement of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
Pottorff
Donald Robert Pottorff, 50, of Dayton died Thursday, February
9, 2006 in Baytown after a brief illness. He was born in Raleigh,
New York, July 19, 1955. He attended high school in New York
and had lived in this area for the past 25 years. He enjoyed
working on computers and loved to cook. He was preceded in
death by his mother, Barbara Parker and his sister, Scarlet
Smith.
Mr. Pottorff is survived by his wife: Christine Fisher Pottorff
of Dayton; step-father: William Alt of Dayton and brother
Robert George Pottorff of Dayton. A memorial service will
be held at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction
of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
KELLEY
James “Jimmy” Lee Kelley of Cleveland, Texas
passed away Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the age of 68.
He was born in Fostoria, Texas to Jimmy Lee and Ethel Kelly
on April 30, 1937. He was a lifetime resident Cleveland and
faithful servant of his community. He was a member of the
Masonic Club, Master Mason Grand Lodge of Texas, Lodge #866
(Shepherd Lodge); a was a Senior Circle Member of Cleveland
Regional Chapter; he served as 1975 President of the Chief
Operating Engineering Association of Houston. He was a Baptist
in faith and enjoyed quality time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother; sons, Jim Kelley, John Kelley,
Jesse Kelley; sister, Barbara Kelley; brother, Jerry Kelley;
grandchildren, Melissa Kelley, Patrick Kelley, Travis Kelley,
Kaitlyn Kelley, Kayla Kelley and numerous nieces and nephews
and other loving family members and caring friends. He was
preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Lee Kelley; and brother,
Kenneth Kelley.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 14, 2006, 2:00
p.m. at Bear Creek Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Bro.
Gene Jones and Bro. Don Stephens conducted the service with
interment at Bear Creek Cemetery.
Fatherree
Charles Robert Fatherree of Liberty, 77, died Saturday, Feb.
11, 2006, at Magnolia Place in Liberty. He was born December
2, 1928 in Ovett, Mississippi to parents Charles Longre and
Marie Walters Fatherree. He served in the U. S. Navy and the
U. S. Marines. He enjoyed fishing and racing cars. He had
lived in this area for over 20 years.
Mr. Fatherree was preceded in death by his parents and his
wife of 47 years: Claudia J. Holder Fatherree. He is survived
by his sons: Mike Chambers and wife Sandra of Norman, Oklahoma,
Don Lotspeich and wife Beth of Baytown, Jim Lotspeich and
wife Kathy of Port Aransas, and Robert Fatherree, Jr. of Dayton;
Daughters: Pat Petty and husband Jack of San Antonio, Jean
Keeler and husband Dennis of Indiana, Karen Stroter of Houston
and Ann Henscey and husband Pat of Dayton; twenty grandchildren
and fifteen great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will follow at a later date in Henderson,
Texas.
Blum
Joseph Lane Blum, 55 of Dayton, died Sunday, February 12,
2006 at home after an extended illness.
He was born September 28, 1950 in Baytown, to parents Douglas
and Roberta Tompkins Blum. He has lived in the Dayton area
for the past two years and was previously of Highlands. He
was an instrument tech. in the construction business. He enjoyed
racing cars with his son Jay, also hunting and fishing.
Mr. Blum is survived by his parents: Douglas and Roberta Blum
of Livingston; son: Jay Blum and wife Kris of Baytown; Daughter:
Chelsea Walls and husband David of Dayton; Brothers: Chuck
Blum and wife Kim of Baytown, Tim Blum of Livingston, and
Lynn Blum of Livingston; three nieces: Stephanie, Crystal
and Ruby; one nephew: Robert Thomas Blum; one grandchild:
Dylan.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 at
2:00 p.m., at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton.
SANBORN
Irene Farrell Sanborn, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away
February 14, 2006 at the age of 91. She was born in Evergreen,
Texas to George and Nellie Hightower on September 18, 1914.
She is survived by a brother, George E. Hightower (Pat) and
his wife, Thora of Coldspring, Texas, a sister-in-law, Bea
Hightower of San Antonio, Texas, five nieces and nephews,
Sylvia Butler and her husband, Ronnie of Port Neches, Texas,
Douglas Wheeler and wife, Elizabeth of Coldspring, Texas,
Frances Jamar of Coldspring, Texas, Don Hightower and wife,
Tana of Bridge City, Texas, Irby Hightower of San Antonio;
nine great-nieces and nephews; eight great-great-nieces and
nephews and many other loving family members and caring friends.
She is preceded in death by a husbands, Larry Farrell and
Charles Sanborn; a brother, Albert Hightower, and a sister,
Mary Wheeler.
Mrs. Sanborn retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone, Cleveland,
with 30 years of service. While there, she worked as a telephone
operator, chief operator, and service assistant.
Mrs. Sanborn was a member of Thee Evergreen Church, the Cleveland
and the Shepherd Chapters of the Eastern Star, and the SBC
Telephone Pioneers.
Rev. Dearing Jones conducted funeral services held Friday,
10:00 a.m., February 17, 2006 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral
Home Chapel, Coldspring Texas with interment at The Evergreen
Cemetery.
EDWARDS
William L. Edwards, “Dub” of Shepherd, Texas,
passed away Thursday, February 16, 2006. He was born in Butler,
Texas to William L. and Lena Edwards, on November 20, 1933.
He is survived by his daughters, Norma Fry, Melody True and
husband, Kenneth, Nancy Woodard; son, William L. Edwards,
“Billy” and wife, Shelia; sisters, Lavern Means,
Pat Toombs, Billie Endersbee; grandchildren, James Fry, John
Fry, Jason True, Brandon True, Tiffany Kenner, Clancy Woodard
and many other loving family members and caring friends. He
is preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Edwards.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2006, 2:00

GOLDEN
LALA FAYE GOLDEN, age 78, passed away Friday, February 17,
2006. She was born in Splendora, Texas to Leonard and Lesta
Partain on November 14, 1927.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Harper, Danny Golden,
Larry Golden, Michael Golden, Gail Zievert, Loretta Popko,
Carol Golden; brother, Milton Partain and numerous grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
Rev. Carl Williamson conducted the funeral services held Monday,
February 20, 2006, 2:00 p.m., Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel,
Cleveland, Texas with interment at Morgan Cemetery.
White
Linda M. Ulkie White, 51, of Dayton, died, Saturday, February
18, 2006, at the MD Anderson Hospital in Houston.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 Pm, Monday, February
20, 2006, at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with
burial following at Linney Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation
will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, with rosary services at 7
Pm, Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction
of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Linda was born October 9, 1954 in Dayton, to parents; L. J.
and Sadie Gregory Ulkie, and has resided in the Dayton area
throughout her life. She was a farmer, graduate of the Dayton
High School class of 1973, Liberty County Master Gardner,
member of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and former
Alter Guild member, member of the American Rose Society, former
Dayton High School employee, and enjoyed gardening, rose gardening,
crocheting, and cooking.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents, brother:
James Ulkie, and sister: Dorothy Graves. She is survived by
her husband of 32 years: Pat White of Dayton, daughter: Kristie
Marcontell and husband Ronnie of Dayton, son: James P. ‘Jimmy’
White, Jr. of Dayton, brothers: Johnny Ulkie and wife Shirley
of Dayton and Archie Ulkie and wife Patsy of Dayton, sister-in-law:
Donna Ulkie of Dayton, three grandchildren: Jordan, Elanie,
and Brittanie, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends.
MAJNIK
Annie Rajak Majnik, 95, passed away Saturday, February 18,
2006, in Houston, TX. She was born April 5, 1910 in Somerset,
CO to Frank and Ana Rajak. Her family moved to Texas when
she was 3 years old. She married the love of her live, John
Majnik on July 5, 1928, and shared 68 wonderful years with
him. She loved the outdoors especially fishing, gardening
and summers in Colorado. Her hands were those of a woman who
loved to crochet and cook. She raised two lovely daughters,
helped raise 6 grandchildren and enjoyed 3 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Majnik was preceded in death by her husband, John Majnik;
granddaughter, Nina Ann Cohn; sisters, Mary Rajak and Sophie
Hart; and brother, Frank Rajak, Jr. She is survived by daughters,
Sadie Ann Cohn of Cleveland, TX and Lillian Majnik Mullen
and husband, Joe of Houston; sisters, Zora Grupa, Frances
Grichar, and Angeline Gaddis; grandchildren, Joe Norman Mullen,
Jr. Otis Malcolm Cohn, Jr., John Stephen Mullen, Mary Elaine
Mullen Melendrez, and Mollie Cohn Lambert; and great-grandchildren,
Noah Melendrez, Eli Melendrez, and Anna Claire Lambert.
The family will receive friends at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home
on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 from 4:00 to 7:00. Funeral services
will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2006, in the Pace-Stancil
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. Larry Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
Dunn
David D. “Smokey” Dunn, 65, of Dayton, died Sunday,
February 19, 2006, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
David was born November 14, 1940 in Tacoma, WA, to parents;
Ralph E. Dunn and Laura Bennett, was a former resident of
Crosby and Rye, and has resided in the Dayton area for 32
years: He was a retired self-employed carpenter, high school
graduate of San Bernardino, had attended the Riverside Community
College and attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crosby.
He also enjoyed photography and reading.
Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his father: Ralph E. Dunn,
stepfather: Elmer “Lee” Kalles, brother: James
E. Dunn, and sister: Kay Joann Dunn. He is survived by his
son: Dominic Dunn of League City, daughter: Margaret Hannah
of Houston, mother: Laura Bennett Kalles of Dayton, sister:
Dorothy Burbank of Dayton, brothers: Marvin R. Jackson of
OH and Patrick L. Jackson of WA, and numerous grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
COCHRAN
OLIVER JOHN “O.J.” COCHRAN, age 82, of Cleveland,
Texas, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2006. He was born
in Prichard, Alabama to Ottie Leon and Marie Cochran on September
25, 1923 of whom preceded him in death along with his wife,
Bessie Peppenhorst Cochran; brother, Leon Cochran; and his
granddaughter, Sherri Cochran.
He was a carpenter and had a remodeling business in the Houston
area. Later, he was a pipe fitter and maintenance foreman.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Cochran Butcher; son,
Harrell Bruce Cochran; grandchildren, Christopher Butcher,
Elaine Claire Tackett and husband, Steve; sister, Bessie May
Turner and Jessie Mae Turner, Essie Ray Busby, Shirley Marie
Ambrose; brother, Earl Cochran and wife, Jo Beth and many
nieces and nephews and other loving family members and caring
friends.
Pastor John Heimann of Rosenberg, Texas conducted graveside
services, Thursday, February 23, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Ryan
Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
MURPHY
Pat Sherman Murphy, of Cleveland, Texas, beloved husband
and father, passed away suddenly on February 19, 2006 at the
age of 66. Pat was born January 1, 1940 in Lufkin, Texas to
Sherman and Tessie Belle Murphy.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by
his loving wife, Charlotte, son, Patrick Murphy and his wife,
Billie-Jean, two step-daughters, Tisha Wilhite and Angela
Lopez, three grandchildren, and one sister, Linda Howard,
of Houston.
Pat retired from Brown & Root after many years of service.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 22, 2006,
2:00 p.m. at Oak Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas.
PHILLIPS
Raymond H. “SMOKEY” Phillips, II of Point Blank,
Texas passed away, February 19, 2006 at the Cleveland Regional
Hospital. He was born February 24, 1959 in Houston, Texas
and moved to Point Blank in 1980. He was an Eagle Scout with
Troop 773 in Houston and belonged to Paul Horton Methodist
Church in Stephen Creek.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Phillips; sister, Brenda
Haynes and her family; grandmother, Mary Walker; aunt, Sally
Brooks and her family; numerous cousins and friends. Preceded
in death by her grandfather, Ted Walker.
Funeral services will be held February 22, 2006, 2:00 p.m.
at Paul Horton Methodist church with Rev. Wallace conducting
the service. Pace-Stancil Funeral Home will be in charge of
arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, 2006,
4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring,
Texas.
Daley
Donald Orville Daley, Sr., age 78, of Shepherd, Texas, passed
away Monday, February 20, 2006. He was born in Houston, Texas
on October 29, 1927 to James and Zola Daley. Donald Daley
served his country in the U.S.S. Navy during WWII.
He is survived by his children, Donald Orville Daley, Jr.,
Bonnie Buckingham and husband, Mario Lopez; brothers, Billy
Daley, Brian Daley; grandchildren, Melody Fischer, Jennifer
Daley, Zack Daley; great-grandchildren, Felicity and Savana
along with many other loving and caring family members and
friends.
SIRKEL
Edna Faye Sirkel, age 61, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away,
Monday, February 20, 2006. She was born in Cleveland, Texas
on September 2, 1944. She is survived by her daughters, Linda
Faye Perez and David Murphy, Mitzi Watford and Jason Smith;
grandchildren, Adam Day Perez, Jessica Day Perez, Joshua Joel
Crook, Justin Lee Crook, Kandice Danay Anice Crook, Nikki
Murphy; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Perez and Madison Perez;
brother, Dale Cooper and wife, Rose; nieces and nephews, Lori
Dale, Monica Marie, Tommy Joe, and Rebecca; aunt, Gertie Bell
Thomas; special nephews, Jeremy Sirkel and Joshua Sirkel;

MEEKINS
Donnice Meekins, age 87, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away
Sunday, February 20, 2006. She was born in Houston, Texas
to T.A. and Evelyn Long on December 26, 1918.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Meekins; grandsons,
Bret Settle, John Settle; brothers, Lester Long, Earnie Long,
and Oswin Long; four grandchildren and a host of and friends
beyond measure. She is preceded in death by son, John Settle;
sisters Arlene Page Rosser and Nora Long.
Rev. Chester Burt conducted graveside services held Wednesday,
February 22, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Rest
Gardens.
BARKER
Minnie Ruth Barker, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away, Tuesday,
February 21, 2006 at the age of 58. She was born in Houston,
Texas to Therman and Martha Rector, Sr. on May 22, 1947.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Bartley and wife, Terri;
step-children, Molly, Tonikay, Claudette, Charlene, and Roxanne;
brother, Therman Rector; sister, Patricia June Carlton; numerous
grandchildren, aunt and uncle, John and Sue Galloway; cousins,
George and Cheryl Channon and many other loving and caring
family members and friends.
Family and friends joined together to pay their respects Friday,
February 24, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland,
Texas.
MORRISON
Ruth G. Morrison, age 79, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away
Friday, February, 24, 2006 at Conroe Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Coldspring, Texas on March 4, 2006, to George
G. and Elmay G. Woodruff.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen Seago and husband,
Terry; grandchildren, Stacey Ferguson and husband, Rickey,
Clint Payne and wife, Hollie; great-grandchildren, Stormie
Payne, Hayden and Peyton Ferguson; nieces and nephews, Russ
and Wesley Morrison, Joe Woodruff, D’Ann Adams, Lisa
Mize, Becky Woodruff, Joseph Douglas Woodruff, Jr. , Susan
Lamb, George Fain; best cousin, Julius Slaughter. She is preceded
in death by her parents, George G. and Elmay G. Morrison;
husband, H.R. Morrison, son, Rusty Morrison, one nephew, two
brothers, one sister.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26, 2006, 2:00
p.m. at First Baptist Church of Coldspring, Coldspring, Texas.
Dr. Don M. Shannon conducted the service with interment at
Laurel Hill Cemetery, Coldspring, Texas.
GRAYSON
GLADYS BROOKSHIRE GRAYSON; Died at her home, Friday, February
24, 2006. Gladys was born at home on September 20, 1907, in
the Berry/Moffett farming community East of Lufkin, Texas,
Angelina County. She was the daughter of Martha Jane (Reynolds)
and Henderson Frank Brookshire. Sisters, Quida and Jewel,
and two years later, brother, Grady, completed the family.
The Children attended the local public school at Moffett,
and helped their parents on the farm.
Gladys married Matterson E. “John” Grayson, in
1932, and later welcomed two children, Bobby Charles and Peggy
Jean. Gladys and John were in the retail grocery/gas business
in Polk County and later in Cleveland, Texas, most of their
married life.
Preceded in death by parents, siblings, husband, and son,
Gladys leaves to mourn her death, daughter, Peggy Grayson
Jarboe, and husband, Judson; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Grayson
Smith, and husband, Roy; grandchildren, Cindy Grayson Lorenz
and Butch, Tamara Jarboe Moore and Mark, Connie Grayson Hill
and Josh, Judson (J.D.) Jarboe, Jr. and Sheila Elaine, Carolyn
Grayson Hunter and Joe, and Derek Grayson Jarboe and Carol.
Also, 16 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren
survive along with numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Services were held Monday, February 27, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at
Calvary Baptist Church, with Bro. Carol Williamson, Pastor
ministering. Gladys was a long time member of Calvary and
active until failing health. She will be greatly missed by
her family and friends.
JONES
L.B. Jones, age 81, of Splendora, Texas, passed away Saturday,
February 25, 2006. He was born in Lovelady, Texas on January
12, 1925 to Mary Archie (Evans) Jones and Floyd Sherman Jones.
He was a resident of Splendora since 1968; 50 year member
Pipefitter Local 211. He was well know throughout the community
and enjoyed his quality time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Maurice C. Jones;
sons, Charles Lewis and Tommy Lewis along with his grandson,
Leon Paul Lewis.
He is survived by his children, T.C. Lewis, Robert Klozik,
Mollie Funderburk, Leon Lewis and wife, Mary, Kenneth Jones
and wife, Judy, Chris Griggs and husband, Donald, Jo Anne
Hall and husband, Leroy; daughter-in law, Candi Lewis; sisters,
Wanda Bruner and husband, Jack, Martha Lively and husband,
Hines; 32 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great
grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 1, 2006, 3:00
p.m. at Antioch Cemetery, Lovelady, Texas. Charlie, Michael,
Sherman, Curtis, Kenneth, Christopher, Donald, Floyd all served
as his honorary pallbearers.
SKINNER
George Skinner, age 79 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away February
27, 2006. He was born in Perido, Alabama to Aris and Louetta
Skinner on January 6, 1927.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Skinner; sons, Darrell
Skinner and Troy Skinner; daughter, Terri Livingston; brother,
Manuel Skinner; sisters, Joyce Morris and husband, Al, Lois
Long, Marlene Winters and husband, Murl; grandchildren, Teresa,
Christie, Cinnamon, Debbie, Brandy, and Morgan; seven great-grandchildren,
and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and
caring friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aris
and Louetta Skinner and his son, Larry Skinner.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 2, 2006, 11:00
a.m., Central Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Billy
Walker conducted the service with interment at Old Big Creek
Cemetery, Shepherd.
DUNNAM
Albert Chester Dunnam, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away February
27, 2006. He was born in Trinity, Texas to Aubrey and Evelyn
Dunnam on February 14, 2006.
He is survived by his sons, Delbert Dunnam and wife, Vicky,
Joe Dunnam, Carlos Muniz, Jeff Dunnam and wife, Kim, Marty
Dunnam and wife, CeCe; daughters, Debra Marriott and husband,
David Keene; brother, Bill, Jim, Roy, Richard, and Robert;
sisters, Betty and Wilma; grandchildren, Adam, Amber, Hope,
Joy, Jimmy, Johnny, Joseph, April, A.J., Christopher, Bryan,
Ryan, Christy, and Josh; and many nieces and nephews and other
loving family members and caring friends. He is preceded in
death by his wife, Delphine Dunnam.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 3, 2006, 1:00 p.m.,
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Melvin
Hollifield conducted the service with interment at Clapp Cemetery,
Trinity, Texas.
