YEAGER

James Albert Yeager, Sr. 64, of Conroe, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006. He was born in Huntsville, Texas on April 15, 2006 to Gervis Jimmy Yeager and Bertha Yeager.
He is survived by his loving wife, Madeline Yeager; sons, James Albert Yeager, Jr. and Sheila, Jimmy Yeager and wife, Lisa, Brian L. Smith and wife, Lisa; sister, Bertha Nell Maness and husband, James; step-brother, Luther Blasingime, Clarence Blasingime; step-sisters, Frankie Dee and Joyce; sister-in-law, Barbara Yeager; six grandchildren, Caitlin Dawn, Geni Nichole, Justin Scott, Mallisa, Kimberly, and Frances; six great-grandchildren, Seth, Darian, Jacob, Carley, Brice, and Kyle; and many nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and caring friends. He is preceded in death by his bother, Raymond Earl Yeager and step-sister, Mary Dee.
A memorial services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2006, 3:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.

 

Koenig

Charles C. Koenig, 102, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2006. He was born on September 25, 1903 in LaGrange, Texas to John and Mary Koenig .
He is survived by his sons, Wilburn Koenig and wife, Bernice, Charles Koenig and wife, Mary; step-daughter, Dorothy Janette Melanson; sister, Hattie Krischke; brothers, Paul and Walter Koenig; seven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Carl Williamson conducted the service with interment at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

 

Warner

Ruby Gatha Warner, 64, of Point Blank, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2006. She was born on February 19, 1942 in Converse, LA. to Ruby Roy and Eva Leona House.
She is survived by her step- sons, Donnie , Steve, Robert and Gary Warner, sister; Francis Johnson, brothers, Richard and David House, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, personal friend Jimmy Spurlock, close friend, Libby Hanson.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Coldspring, Texas. Mr. Windle Kee conducted the service with interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Coldspring,Texas.


LITTLETON

Lynda D. Littleton, born on May 11, 1951, passed away June 4, 2006. Arrangements were handled by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.


COLSTON

Roy Fulton Colston, Jr., born in Tyler, Texas on December 10, 1925 to Roy Fulton Colston, Sr. and Maud Warner Colston. When he was a younger man, he served our country in the U.S. Navy. He went on to start a successful manufacturing business by building auto parts. He always had a wonderful smile that will forever be missed by all of those that knew him and kept him in their hearts. He left behind the burdens of this life on June 4, 2006. He is survived by many cherished family members and countless friends beyond measure. He is preceded in death by
his loving wife, Annie Virginia Colston.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 10, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with interment at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.


DILLON

Gladys Ina Evelyn Dillon, born July 11, 1935, passed away June 5, 2006. Arrangements were handled by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
Serna
Martha Jane “Marty” Serna, 60, of Lubbock, Texas died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 after an extended illness. She was born August 2, 1945 in Bauragard, Louisiana to parents James Lewis and Mandy Elmira Whittington Mason. She had been a resident of both Mexico and Texas over the past 31 years.

Service for Mrs. Serna will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents, brother: William Allen Mason and sister: Jo Ann Mason. She is survived by her
husband: Gabriel Serna of Mexico; sons: Damian Serna and wife Rosa of Lubbock, Lewis Mason Serna of Mexico; sisters: Alice Faye Nash of Deridder, Louisiana and Mary Langley and husband William of Dayton; brother: John Wayne Mason of Houston; four grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.


Slaughter

Jennie Marie Slaughter, 60, of Dayton, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 in Houston. She was born October 26, 1945 to parents Neil and Anna Belle Guckian Hodges in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Galena Park High School, lived most of her life in the Houston area before moving to Dayton where she had lived for the past 10 years. Mrs. Slaughter had worked for Chevron and the Steel Mill before retiring. She loved and was devoted to her family, always taking care of them in every aspect. She was affiliated with the Crosby Church.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Hardin Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her mother: Anna Belle Hodges; step-mother: Mildred Hodges; grandparents: Marie Guckian, Roy and Mabel Hodges. She is survived by her father: Neil Hodges of Houston; sons: Michael Slaughter and wife Becky of Dayton, Joel Van Matre of Highlands, and Gregory Slaughter of Dayton; grandchildren: Lori Slaughter and Sarah Van Matre; brother: Roy Hodges and wife Betty of Brenham, and sister: Linda Inman of New York; other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2006 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.


WHITSON

William Auther Whitson, age 60, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away, Wednesday, June 7, 2006. He was born to Oscar Joseph and Ethel Whitson in Fairfax, Oklahoma on April 4, 1946.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Whitson; children, Bill Younger, Robert Lawson, Dorothy Carwile, Tara Urias, Zeronia Arnold; brothers and sisters, Andre Whitson, Frankie Whitson, Aline Drymond, Mary Christy, Lorene Schubert; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other cherished family members along with countless friends beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his son, Joey Younger.
Memorial services were held Saturday, June 10, 2006, 5:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel.


KELLY

David Oscar Kelly, Sr. of Cleveland, Texas, passed away, Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the age of 74. He was born in Corpus Christi on February 5, 1932.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce K. Kelly, daughter, Davette Hendrickson and husband, Bert of Livingston, Texas; sons, David Kelly, Jr. and wife Audrey of Cleveland, Texas, Scott Kelly and wife, Colleen of Michigan, Russell Kelly and wife, Rhoda of Cleveland, Texas, Jeff Kelly and wife, Tracy of Richman, Texas; brother, Douglas Kelly of Robstown, Texas; grandchildren, Eric, Amanda, Brian, Derek, Brent, Christina, Alyssa, and Paige; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan and Noelle; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and caring friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar A. Rabenadlt; mother, Ellen Carruthers; adopted father, Aurthur Kelly; and brothers, Robert Rabenadlt and Kenneth Kelly.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 10, 2006, 11:00 a.m. St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Paul Kahan conducted the service with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Slankard

Charles W. “Chuck” Slankard, 42, of Tarkington Prairie, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Rosenberg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, June 16, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with burial following at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Chuck was born February 4, 1964, in Freeport, to parents; Ewell W. Slankard and Beverly Robinson, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1983 and obtained his Paramedic Certification through Lee College in 1989. He was a paramedic for Houston Medical Transfer Services, and Advanced Ambulance of Corpus Christi, former youth T-ball coach, and enjoyed his work, playing guitar and bass, and barbecues.

Mr. Slankard is survived by his wife: Donna L. Davis Slankard of Baytown, daughters: Charlotte Slankard of Baytown and Jessica Cormier of Baytown, grandchildren: Devin and Deja Cormier, mother: Beverly Robinson McDaniel of Tarkington Prairie, father: Ewell W. Slankard of Batson, brother: Ken Hooper and wife Sandra of Tarkington Prairie, maternal grandparents: Clyde and Ava Williams of Moss Hill, two nephews, one niece, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

 

McCawley

James Shannon McCawley, 36, of Dayton, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, in Dayton due to ATV accident near his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2006, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with burial following at Palms Memorial Park. Visitation was from 2 pm to 5 pm, Sunday, June 18th at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
James was born May 9, 1970, in Taylor, to parents; David McCawley and Margie Coffman, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 7 years. He worked as a pipe fitter for Austin Industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and shooting guns. He expressly loved his dogs, Nina and Dusty.
Mr. McCawley is survived by his Wife: Deborah Sweeney McCawley of Dayton, Daughter: Tesla Dai McCawley; Son: Shannon Russell McCawley both of Baytown, Father: David McCawley of Jackson, Mississippi; Mother: Margie Coffman and husband, James of Channelview; Sister: Shelly Dawn Moore of Friendswood; Brother: Kevin McCawley and wife Jennifer of Baytown; Step-daughter: Sharla Baker of Pasadena; Three step-grandchildren: Krista, Kaitlyn and Kaley Baker. Also numerous nieces and nephews also survived.

 

Elliott

Catherine Elliott, age 101, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006. She was born April 29, 1905, in Bayonne, New York, to Thorwald and Ida Neilsen.
She is survived by her son, Theodore Stanley Elliott SR.; grandson, Theodore Stanley Jr.; granddaughters, Belinda Kay Lull, Sindee Dickerson; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, June 18, 2006, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral.

Gene Paul Burroughs, age 61, of Conroe, Texas, passed away, Thursday, June15, 2006. He was born to Charles Howard and Lillie Schultz Burroughs in Goose Creek, Texas on August 11, 1944.
He is survived by his mother, Lillie A. Burroughs; sons, Chad Lynn Burroughs and wife, Nicole, Tody William Burroughs and wife, Tamara; daughter, Angie Renee Burroughs; grandchildren, Charles Taylor, Avery Quinn, Joselle Rain, Alaina Nicole, Andra Lynn Burroughs; brothers, Robert H. Alice Chong Nim Lee, age 66, born June 18, 1940, of Houston, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 24, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas with interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Coldspring, Texas.

 

RISHEL

Samuel Rishel passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Spring Branch Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 25, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

 

Parsons

Ernest Douglas Parsons, 58, of Cleveland, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Lufkin.

He was born December 4, 1947 in Kountze, Texas to parents Woodrow Douglas and Dorothy Mae Costlow Parsons. He had lived in the area for over 25 years and had worked as a welder before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2006 at Oil Field Cemetery in Saratoga with Rev. Vernon Parsons officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by his parents; brother: John Dale Parsons and sister: Donna Jean Lane. He is survived by his
sons: Doug Parsons of Raywood and Billy Jack Parsons; daughter: Amanda Parsons of Romayor; brothers: Vernon Parsons and wife Cindy of Moss Hill, James Parsons and wife Belinda of Saratoga; sister: Marilyn Parsons of Onalaska.

 

THORSON

Andrew N. Thorson, Jr. age 84, of Batson, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2006. He was born on June 26, 1921 in Sour Lake, Texas to Andrew N. Thorson, Sr. and Jewel May Little Thorson, both of whom preceded him in death along with his sister, Margaret Hobbs and his brother, Bert Thorson and wife, Jessie Thorson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Corine Slagle Thorson; two daughters, Jo Ann Zeller, Ruby Jean and Lee Duhon; two sons, Micheal and Debbie Thorson, Kenneth and Linda Thorson; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and caring friends beyond measure.

Alice Victoria Munson, 58, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away June 25, 2006; she was born in Navasota, Texas on November 4, 1947. Arrangements made through Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

 

Amy Reneé McElroy

Born in Midland, Texas to Neil McElroy and Tammy Jean Taylor on September 16, 1986 and passed away at Lafayette General Hospital, Lafayette, Louisiana after a tragic auto accident on June 25, 2006.
Amy spent most all her life in both Midland, Texas and Cleveland, Texas. She was a graduate of Tarkington High School. Amy was a Baptist in faith and she was dutifully involved in the Drill Team. She loved to dance and was simply loved by so many; but most, she was a sister, daughter, friend, and a blessing from God.
Amy is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jo Ann Collard, J.R. Taylor, Virginia Murphy, and Henry C. McElroy.
She is leaving behind her loving family to cherish precious memories, her mother, Tammy Varnado and husband and step-father, Byron; of Cleveland, Texas; father, Neil McElroy and wife, and step-mother, Michelle of Midland, Texas; her twin sister, Ashley Nicole McElroy of Cleveland, Texas; one brother, Joshua Ray (and Jennifer) Taylor of Texas City, Texas; three step-brothers, Byron, Brandon, and Brett Varnado of Cleveland, Texas; many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 29, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.


Coker

Jasper H. “Jabo” Coker, 83, of Tarkington Prairie, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at home after an extended illness.
He was born April 9, 1923 in Crosby, Texas to parents: Maltie Clayton and Cora Franks Coker. He attended Webster High School, was in the United States Marine Corps during World War II where he served with the Second Marine Division, 1st Battalion. During his service he was awarded two Purple Hearts and two Presidential Unit citations. He was past commander of the American Legion Post #499 of Galena Park, was a member of Shriner’s and VFW. He had worked as an inspector welder on pipelines, and was owner operator of Jabo’s Campground in Liberty from 1978 through 1986. He lived in the Lufkin area for 13 years before moving back to the Dayton area. Jabo enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing and just being outdoors.
Service for Mr. Coker will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Mary Lou Sills, and Aline Moore; brothers: Earl C. Norris, Melvin Norris, John Coker, Clyde Coker, and Wade Coker. He is survived by his wife: Donnie Carter Coker of Tarkington Prairie; daughter: Trina Louise Carter of Florida; nephews: Turner B. Moore and wife Barbara of Texas City; Charles A. Moore and wife Carol Jean of Houston, and Johnny Coker and wife Daphne of Houston; nieces: Patsy Leija and husband Pete of The Woodlands, Cora Mae Brown and husband Tom of McKinney and Alice Lee and husband Robert of South Carolina; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Jabo Coker will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.


NAVARRO

Dorothy Jo Navarro, 77 of Houston, Texas, passed away June 27, 2006; she was born July 31, 1929 in Rusk, Texas. Graveside services were held Friday, June 30, 2006 at Morales Cemetery, Houston, Texas.

June Carylon Fiser, 86, of Hawkins, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2006. She was born in Hollard, Missouri on June 28, 2006 to Amos and Jessie Churchwell. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Irvin E. Fiser, Sr.
She is survived by her son Irvin E. Fiser, Jr. and wife, Connie of Tyler, Texas; sister, Ruby Hinson of Kentucky; grandchildren, Greg W. Fiser of Houston, Texas, Chris K. Fiser of Tyler, Texas, Samuel E. Irvin Francis Hoffman, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away June 30, 2006 at the age of 70. He was born in Baytown, Texas on June 24, 1936.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Hoffman; children, Nancy Reighard and husband, Jim, Heather Hoffman, Suzanne Cleland and husband, Greg, David Hoffman and wife, Wanda, Floyd D. Idom; brother, Melvin Roy Hoffman and wife, Kris; thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, wife by previous marriage, Barbara Davis; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving and caring family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 3, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Romayor, Texas with interment at Morgan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
