ROBERTSON

Joe L. Robertson, 48, of Hempstead, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2006. Arrangements were made through Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.

 

Lucero

Frank R. Lucero, 55, of Dayton, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Frank’s home, 448 CR 2341, Dayton, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Frank was born February 25, 1951 in Houston and has resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a veteran of the US Navy with service during Vietnam, member of the Calvary Baptist Church, the VFW, and the American Legion, and a former mechanic for Trinity Valley Welding Services of Liberty. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, bull riding, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Lucero was preceded in death by his father: Frank Lucero. He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Debbie Jones Lucero of Dayton, daughter: Maranda Lucero of Dayton, son: Frank R. Lucero, III of Katy, four grandchildren: Celina and Zarah Lucero, and Sean and Kiwi Phillips, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

MOORE

Robert “Bubba” Moore, Jr. of Stephens Creek, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006 while surrounded by his family. Although passing at 59, Bubba will be remembered as a fighter for surviving to this remarkable age despite the incredible odds against him. Those blessed enough to have known him will remember a perpetual child, expressing only innocence, joy, and unconditional love. He will be forever missed by his devoted mother, Sue E. Moore, and loyal brothers and sisters: Bonnie “Bibber Girl” Tidwell, Donald and Barbara Moore, Dianna “Snoozie Girl” Kelly, and James Allen Moore, Bubba was preceded in death by his Good Ol’ Daddy” Robert V. Moore, Sr. Family members and numerous friends share in the loss of this truly special person. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Paul Horton United Methodist Church of Stephen Creek, Texas with interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Stephen Creek, Texas.


WEST

Barbara Jeanette West, 75, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away August 2, 2006. She was born in Herford, Texas on September 29, 1930 to Roy Thomas and Eldora Boyd.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Jean Dial and husband, Joe Dial; son, Shannon Boyd West and wife, Cheryl Ann, Kevin Earl West and wife, April; sister, Royda Glenn and husband, Earl; grandchildren, Nicholas Dial, Nolan Dial, Michael West, Joseph West, Daniel West; great-grandchildren, Aaron West and Brandon West; nieces and nephews, Linda Young, Laurie Spurlock, and Bryan Glenn and many other loving and caring family members and countless friends. She is preceded in death by W. D. West.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 4, 2006, 1:00 p.m., First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas with interment at Hayman Cemetery, Coldspring, Texas.

 

Zbranek

Well loved attorney, former district judge, and former state representative, Judge J. C. “Zeke” Zbranek, 76, of Devers, died Friday, August 4, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 7, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of Liberty with Mr. Bob Scherer officiating. Private graveside services to be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jaromir Charles Zbranek was born the second of three sons on March 25, 1930 in Crosby to parents; Ladislav and Marie Zbranek, Sr. His family moved into the Hull-Daisetta area while he was still a child and he graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School in 1947. He then attended the University of Texas in Austin earning a Bachelors of Arts in 1952. While at the University of Texas he was a member of the Czech Club, MICA President 1950-1951, Pre-Law Society, N.R.O.T.C., Pi Sigma Alpha, and Friars Silver Spurs. He was also student editor of the Law Review, member of the Rusk Literary Society, the Tejas Club, the Student Assembly, Chairman and the Discipline Committee. Honors Mr. Zbranek received while at the University include the Jesse Jones Naval Scholarship, McKie Law Scholarship, and the Mike Flynn Award as Most Outstanding Student. “Zeke” Zbranek served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant from 1952 to 1954 aboard the USS Carmick during the Korean War. After returning home, he earned the Democratic nomination to the Texas House of Representatives in 1954 serving until 1960. While serving in the Legislature he attended and graduated from the University of Texas Law School two years later. He began his law practice in Liberty partnership with the late Thomas Wheat in 1956, opening his own practice in 1959. He practiced law for the next 30 years, also serving as chairman of the Liberty County Democratic Party and as a member of the Lamar University Board of Regents from 1973 to 1979. In 1990, Mr. Zbranek won election as Judge of the 75th District Court in Liberty, serving on the bench until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid reader, enjoyed history and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Judge Zbranek was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Marion Zbranek. He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Nelda Forshee Zbranek of Devers, daughter: Felicia Zbranek of Houston, sons: Zeb Zbranek and wife Angela of Winnie and Zack Zbranek and wife Sandy of Devers, four grandchildren: Zachary, Zoe, Zane, and Shane, brother: L. L. Zbranek, Jr. and wife Laverne of Hardin, sister-in-law: Virginia Zbranek of Devers, brothers-in-law: Judge C. T. “Rusty” Hight and wife Leah of Dayton and Carl Hight and wife Charlotte of Liberty, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Also his special pets, Biddy and Sudie.

In lieu of floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Hull-Daisetta Golden Oldies Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 487, Daisetta, Texas 77533 in Judge Zbranek’s name.

Lucy Bea Jett Fitzgerald of New Caney, Texas passed away August 4, 2006 at the age of 78. She was born in Casey Ridge, Texas to Vernal Bea Casey and Ora Murty Burton Casey on March 4, 1928. She is survived by husband, Joe Fitzgerald, Daughters, Robbie Graham and husband, Zenus, Ruby Modisette and husband, Maurice; son, Rufus Jett and wife, Barbara; sisters, Alkhi Jackson and husband, Tommy, Vida Porter and husband, Connie Joe, Ellen Whitner McGuire and husband, Tom grandchildren, Sunnie Isaacks, Zenus “Bubba” Graham, Maurice “Trey” Gibson, Tammy Kelso, Rufus “Skipper”, Jett and Rocky Jett; great-grandchildren, Sunshine, Kelsie, Maurice, Hannah, Hank, Hagen, one due in October, Ricky Crawford, Samantha Isaacks; nephews, Kerry Polk, Benny Polk, James “Bubba” Bailey, Eddie McGinnis; nieces,Cynthia Holcomb, Connie Hibner, Frances Krolczyk, Pat Roper, Pam Porter, Numerous other loving and caring family members and countless friends.

Pearce

Ila Mae Pearce, age 94, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Friday, August 4, 2006. She was born June 23, 1912 to Ludlow Agnew and Frances Agnew in Shelby County, Texas. Services were held Monday, August 7,2006,First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Texas, interment following at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Nacogdoches, Texas.

 

BRUDNICKI

Baby Alishah Kaylnn Brudnicki, born to Bert and Jamie Brudnicki, left the world on August 8, 2006. Graveside services will be held Sunday, August 13, 2006 5:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens “Baby Land”.

 

RICE

Franklin David Rice, Sr. of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at the age of 69. He was born in Mendvill, PA on November 5, 1936 to Harry Albert and Mary Martha Rice.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Pin Oak Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. George Hayden conducted the service with interment at Red Rock Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Rice, daughters, Tina Tapp and husband, James, Cindy Mantley and husband, Carl, Sharon Parkman and husband, Jim; sons, Robert Rice and wife, Darlene, Jim Rice and wife, Becky, Franklin Rice and wife, Brenda and Chris Rice and wife, Carsissa; sister, Harriet Reeves; brother, Charles Albert Rice and wife, Gayle; eleven grandsons, 6 granddaughters, thirteen grandchildren, two nephews, one niece.

Ever May Runnels, born in Diboll, Texas on May 1, 1900, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the age of 106. Graveside services were held Friday, August 11, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at Deadwood Methodist Cemetery, Deadwood, Texas.

 

CLEAVER

Mildred Cleaver, 80, of Dayton, died Thursday morning, August 10, 2006, at home after an extended illness. She was born August 22, 1925 in Combine, Texas to parents, William and Lula Wheat Rubile. She was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Cleaver enjoyed Bingo, collecting Betty Boop items, enjoyed country western music and liked to go to the “Boat” in Louisiana.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Schultz officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.Mrs.

Cleaver was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Adilou Mendel, and aunt, Ira Fields.She is survived by her son, James W. Montgomery of Dayton; daughters, Caroleen Hammons of The Woodlands, Paula Caudill and husband, Walt of Pasadena, Jamie Meekins of Cypress, Joi Shaver of Dayton, and Rebecca Lou Patton and husband, Buddy of Dayton; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie Rubile and wife Shirley of Santa Fe; sisters, Doll Corley and husband, Roy of Spring, Betty Jean Landry of Hull; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Ricky Joe Barnett, 43, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away August 10, 2006. Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

Teresa Lynn Tew, 45, of Camilla, Texas, passed away August 10, 2006. Arrangements were made through Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

 

WATSON

Louella “Lou” Lee Watson, 95, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away August 14, 2006. She was born on August 11, 1918 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Ralph R. and Virginia McPheeters.

She is survived by four grandchildren with countless great and great-great-grandchildren, many senior friends in the Cleveland and Tarkington communities along with her church family of Rural Shade Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 19, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Dr. Byron Reeves conducted the service with interment at Cleveland, Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

SCHNEIDER

Charles Allen Schneider, 46, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away August 14, 2006. Funeral services were held August 17, 2005, 4:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

Najera

Rebecca M. “Beckie” Najera, RN, MSN, CNM, 52, of Dayton, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at the Northeast Medical Center in Humble.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Beckie was born November 20, 1953 in Amarillo, to parents; Gerald and Betty Jean Woods Ford, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 17 years. She was a graduate of the Madison High School class of 1971, and received her Certificate of Technology, Licensed Vocational Nurse Degree from San Jacinto College in 1994, Bachelor of Science, Nursing Degree from Texas Women’s University, College of Nursing in 1999, Master of Nursing Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and Certification as a Nurse Midwife in 2002, licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2003, and granted Prescriptive Privileges in 2004. She held memberships in the American College of Nurse Midwives, Consortium of Texas Certified Nurse Midwives, Galveston County Advanced Practice Nurse Association, International Childbirth Educators Association, Sigma Thera Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Texas Students Nurses Association, UTMB Student Nurse Midwives Organization, Vocational Nursing Club, Women’s Healthcare Network, Girl Scouts of America, San Jacinto Council, UTMB Student Nurse Midwives Organization’s Boxes for Babies Project 2001. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Najera was preceded in death by her father: Gerald Ford, mother: Betty J. Woods Ford, and brother: George Kirby. She is survived by her husband of 26 years: Ronald L. “Ron” Najera of Dayton, daughters: Veronica L. Najera, Nicole N. Najera, and Victoria K. Najera all of Dayton, grandchildren: Aspen Lee~Monet Najera-Griffin and Ayden Ashton Merino, sisters: Salena Morris of Houston, Kandy Sewell of Houston, Loretta Nelson of Charlestown, RI, and Patti Summerville of Eureka Springs, AR, brother: Patrick Kirby of Austin, step-mother: LaVerne Ford of Eureka Springs, AR, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

SWARTZ

Steven Alan Swartz, Sr. 36, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away, August 17, 2006. He
was born in Humble, Texas on April 22, 1970. Arrangements were made through
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

 

JONES

Arnett Jones, Jr. was born in Point Blank, Texas on January 3, 1920. Lived on the
same old family place, near Darby Hill, his entire 86 years. He passed away August
17, 2006.
He served in the Army during WWII as Communication Expert performing duties as Wire
Corporal. He earned the bronze star medal installing and maintaining communication
lines under enemy fire.
He enjoyed life, especially using his famous lawn mower around his house and
pasture. You just had to see the mower, because it is a "Jones Original", held
together with the necessities; wire, string, and duct tape. Piddling around the
house, mowing grass and poisoning thorn bushes took up a lot of his time.
His beloved wife, Ellen Kelly "Mutt" Jones passed away in 1997 and he missed her
everyday. He was unique . . . what you saw is what you got. He was a very proud
and private man. He loved to share old stories and history of surrounding areas and
he could tell a lot of them too.
Arnett is survived by his daughters, Sue Walker and husband, Phillip, Lucy England
and husband, Dale; grandchildren, Phyllis Walker Wilkins,
Peggy Walker Stump, and Alan Walker, Cayl England and wife, Cheryl, Bricia Glovan,
Kimmy Middleton and husband, Bobby; great-grandchildren, Nate England, Caylah
England, Bailee England, Austin Angel, Eric Glovan, A.J. Glovan, Kayleigh
Middleton and nine great-grandchildren of Sue and Phillip Walker; three
great-great-grandchildren; special nephew, George Mann; close friends, Lloyd Bryant
and Doris Blanks Hudgins and many cousins and caring friends. He is preceded in
death by his parents, Lucy Groom Jones and Arnett Jones, Sr. and grandson, Norman
Walker.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 21, 2006, Paul Horton Methodist Church,
Stephens Creek, Texas. Pallbearers, Herman Walker, William Walker, Russell Smith,
Jimmy Capers, Frank Black, and Curtis Johnson, all guided Arnett Jones, Jr. to his
final resting place at Foster Cemetery, Point Blank, Texas.

 

Fregia

Bertha Mae Fregia, 84, died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Liberty-Dayton Hospital.  She was born May 4, 1922 in Moss Hill to parents, George W. and Myrite Stout.   She had been a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of the Wilderness Church.  She enjoyed working in her yard, quilting, sewing, and watching her soap operas. 

Services for Mrs. Fregia will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Wilderness Church, off FM 160  in Raywood with Brother Larry Luster officiating.  Interment will follow at The Wilderness Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. 

Mrs. Fregia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hubert Fregia, daughter, Opal Mae Mott, sons, Kenneth H. Fregia and Charles A. Fregia, three brothers, one sister, and granddaughter, JoAnn McCraw.   She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Jean Fregia of Raywood and Joyce Vanya and husband, William of Jennings, La., son, George Raymond Fregia and wife, Lolly of Dayton, two special granddaughters, Carolyn Hilton and Brenda Carr, also 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 14 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at The Wilderness Church.

 

Seaberg

Mrs. Alice M. Seaberg, 88, of Crosby, died peacefully at St. James House, Baytown, Texas on Sunday, August 20, 2006.  She was born August 21, 1917 in Crosby, Texas to parents David A. and Mary M. Lindstrom.  She was a lifetime resident of Crosby, living two years in Alvin before moving to St. James House.  Mrs. Seaberg was a member of the Crosby United Methodist Church where she served on many committees, including the Board of Trustees and the Building Committee.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Garden Club.  She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking for her family, fishing and painting. 

Services for Mrs. Seaberg will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the United Methodist Church of Crosby, with Dr. W. C. Fancher and Dr. Charles Greene officiating.

Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton under the direction of Pace—Stancil Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Seaberg was preceded in death, by her parents, her husband of 52 years, Herbert F. “Dutch” Seaberg, and brothers, Carl and Arthur Lindstrom.  She is survived by her daughters, Freddie Ressler and husband, Joseph, of Nederland, and Hedda Reynolds and husband, Bill of Alvin; her grandchildren, Kayla Miller and husband, Buck of Anahuac, David Ressler and wife,  Maria of Phoenix, AZ, Steven Ressler and wife, Melissa of Euless, Valeri Wickersham and husband, Penn of San Antonio, and Michael Reynolds and wife, Sheri of Magnolia; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Isabell Lord of Crosby; sister-in-law, Juanita Seaberg of Dayton; brother-in-law, Ivan Seaberg of China; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 1304 North Cleveland, Dayton, Texas.

 

DAVIS

Dorothy Louise Davis, 81, of Hardin, Texas, passed away Monday, August 21, 2006.
She was born in Mexia County, Texas on September 23, 1924 to James Walter and Ollie
Maranda Rayburn.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Travis Davis. She is survived
by her son, Larry Eugene Davis of Moss Hill, Texas; daughters, Ann Phillips of
Devers, Texas, Winnie Dois Ripley, Austin, Texas, Jeannie Lois Fout of Austin,
Texas; brother, James Walter Rayburn of Livingston, Texas; sisters, Elsie Primrose
of Hardin, Texas, Marceline Smith of Cleveland, Texas; fifteen grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends including
her church family of Moss Hill Assembly of God.
Bro. Bobby Morgan conducted graveside services held Thursday, August 24, 2006, 10:00
a.m. at Montague Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

 

YOUNG

Lee Ola Young, 88, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2006. She
was born in Shepherd, Texas on September 17, 1917 to Charles and Melina Shrader.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Young, Jimmy Young, and Thomas Young, Jr.;
along with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many other loved
ones and caring friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 25, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil
Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Coley Creek Cemetery,
Shepherd, Texas.

 

BANKSTON

Lee Wendle Bankston, born August 10, 1931, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2006. He
retired after a long career in Insurance and Real Estate. He owned Bankston
Insurance Agency for 40 years before retiring.
He served 4 years in the Air Force with a tour of duty in Korea.
He married, and is survived by his high school sweetheart, Billie Joyce
Rogers-Bankston. He is also survived by his daughter, Connie Parish and husband,
Bob; son, Gary Bankston; grandchildren, Joe Don Parish and wife, Stephanie, Kyle
Parish and Keri Parish; great-grandchild, Sydney Jolee Parish and countless
friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 25, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil
Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Carl Williamson conducted the service
with interment at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

WARDEN

Katie Mae Warden, 90, of Stafford, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2006. She
was born in Alba, Texas on July 16, 1916. Funeral services were held Friday, August
18, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Texas.

 

Brown

Mrs. Rosa Lee Brown, 91, of Liberty, died peacefully Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in Baytown after an extended illness.  She was born, December 14, 1914 in Fostoria, Texas

to parents, Charles A. and Clara Traylor Walker.  She had lived in Liberty for over 65 years and was a member of the Bible Way Pentecostal Church.  She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers, cooking, canning, sewing and music. 

Services for Mrs. Brown will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Bible Way Pentecostal Church with Rev. Adolph Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Linney Cemetery in Dayton under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Sim Brown and son, Sharp Brown, Jr.      She is survived by her daughters:  Dorothy Keith of Sheldon and Meredith Herndon and husband, Kenneth of Kenner, Louisiana; her sons:  Charles “Buddy” Brown and wife, Brenda of Liberty, Morris Brown and wife, Candace of Bay City, and James “Jimmy” Brown and wife, Ovella of Shepherd;  14 Grandchildren; 36 Great-grandchildren; and 15 Great Great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

 

Hutchins

Mrs. Adelia Hutchins, 89, of Dayton, died peacefully at home, Wednesday, August 23, 2006 after an extended illness.   She was born, January 18, 1917 in Stamps, Arkansas to parents Percy Dave and Beden Burdue Harrison.   She was a long time resident of the area and had worked for several years as a nurse at the Northshore Hospital.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and her grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Hutchins will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lyndol Kinser officiating.  Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years, J.W. Hutchins; brothers:  Bill, Cody, David, and Bailey Harrison.   She is survived by her daughter:  Elise Hutchins of Lake Charles, LA; her sons:  Rex Hutchins and wife Joann of Dayton,  John Allen Hutchins and wife LaQuita of Brady, Billy Hutchins and wife Martha of Hysham, Montana; 17 Grandchildren, 39 Great-grandchildren, and 9 Great Great-grandchildren; sister:  Avis Redman of Arkansas; brother:  C.C. Harrison and wife Josie of Gilmore, TX; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Visitation for Mrs. Hutchins will be Friday evening 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

 

McAlister

Therese Jeanne McAlister, 25, of Dayton, passed away Friday, Aug.25, 2006 in
Houston. She was born September 13, 1980 in Houston to parents, David and
Mary Sindelar McAlister. A life long resident of the area she graduated from
Dayton High School in 1999. While at DHS, she was very active in track and
field, tennis, cheerleading and softball. She went on to receive a Bachelor
Degree in Psychology at the University of Houston in 2005, and was currently
working on her Masters Degree. She was presently employed as an apartment
manager. Therese enjoyed reading, shopping and music.

Services for Miss McAlister will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Father David Edwards officiating.
Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.

Miss McAlister was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Lois Katheleen
McAlister and Jeanne Sindelar, her great-grandmother, Crescent Ozmun and her
aunt, Irene Sindelar. She is survived by her parents, David and Mary
McAlister of Dayton; sisters, Lara McAlister of Houston; Michele McAlister
Cruz and husband, Eric of Dayton; brother, Christopher McAlister and fiancée
Kelly Druen of Dayton; two nephews, Kelly McAlister of Houston and Lucian
McAlister of Dayton; grandfathers, Hugo Sindelar of Houston, and Roy
McAlister of Levelland; also many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her.

Holland

Virgil Clarence Holland, 64, of Dayton died at his daughter's Angela's home
after an extended illness. He was born July 14, 1942 in Alexandria,
Louisiana to parents, Herman and Audrey Nichols Holland. He had been a
resident of the Dayton area for over ten years,

previously living in Harris County. He served in the United States Marine
Corps and had serveral businesses including trucking and electrical. He
ministered as evangelist and enjoyed playing his guitar. Mr. Holland had
many accomplishments, he enjoyed being a pilot, master in martial arts, and
serving as a law officer in many capacities. Prior to his death he was a
detective for Patton Village. He enjoyed riding his Harley, helping others
and was a father, grandfather and friend to many.

Memorial service for Mr. Holland will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2,
2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with Frank Davis officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughters:
Angela Tonkin and husband, Richard of Dayton, Jessica Holland of Marble
Falls; his sons: Jonathan Holland of Pasadena, Virgil "Bobby" Holland of
Dayton, and Colton Holland of Baytown; his three grandchildren: Candace,
David and Brad.

 

GATES

Funeral services for Pauline Gates, were held at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel,
Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. She passed away at Cleveland Regional
Medical Center on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the age of 83.
She was the daughter of J.E. and Connie Taylor born in Paris, Texas on October 28,
1922 and survived by her son, Phillip Gates and wife, PO; grandchildren, Kellie
Whitmire and husband, Clint, Cory Gates; great-grandchild, Mikayla Whitmire; along
with many other loving family members and caring friends.

 

BASKIN

Allee Suzanne Baskin, 22, passed away, Monday, August 28, 2006 in Branson, Missouri.
Father, Wayne and wife, Julie Baskin of Splendora invited friends and family for a
Memorial Service, Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Blanc

Howard P. "Pie" Blanc, 81, of Woodville, died Monday, August 28, 2006 in
Lufkin.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2006, at
the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Howard was born March 18, 1925 in Houston, to parents; Carlos R. and Octavia
"Tyvee" Bienvenu Blanc, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the
Woodville area for the past five years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy,
a retired welder, and member of the Pipe fitter's Local Union in Houston.

Mr. Blanc was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Dorothy M. Henry
Blanc, daughter: Linda D. Blanc, sisters: JoAnn Anderson and Melba
Osminer, and brothers: Albert "Bobby" Blanc and Diddie P. Blanc, Sr. He is
survived by his sons: Howard P. Blanc, Jr. and wife Tina of Dayton and
Garland Bilnoski and wife Terese of Houston, grandchildren: Tyler, Evan,
Sara, Jessica, and Sabrina, great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jr. and Emily,
sisters: Dorothy "Sue" Travis of Denver, CO and Beulah "Boo" Ezernack of
Houston, brother: Jerome "Pete" Blanc of Port Aransas, and numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

Drake

Robert E. Drake, 61, of Dayton, died Thursday, August 31, 2006, at the
Memorial Hermann North West in Houston.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 4,
2006, at St. Anne's Catholic Mission. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to
9 pm, Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Robert was born July 23, 1945 in Baytown, to parents; Hollie and Emma Wagner
Drake, a former resident of Baytown and has resided in the Dayton area for
the past 20 years. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, a former
rig operator, a retired horse trainer, and enjoyed spending time with family
and friends.

Mr. Drake was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife
of 26 years: Sherren Korenek Drake of Dayton, daughters: Emma Drake of
Dayton, Rachael Drake and Josh Ryland of Dayton, Stacy Drake and Joe Dugas
of Dayton, Tracy Edwards and Kenny of Dayton, and Surina Harshaw of Baytown,
mother: Emma W. Drake of Baytown, sister: Ethel Hall and James of Dayton,
brothers: Hollie Drake and Wynona of Cleveland and Wyatt Drake and Janie of
Baytown, 15 grandchildren: Robert, Lacey, Patricia, and Hollie Harshaw,
Sarah Edwards, Brittanie, Traylor, and Lane Jarvis, Sunny Kasey, Timothy,
and April Dugas, Dylan Hoffman, Skye and Dylan Ryland, an numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
