West
Kathy Diane Vandver West, 48, of Houston, died Wednesday,
May 2, 2007 at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center. She was
born November 8, 1958 in Cleveland, Texas to parents, Curtis
E. and Joy Foxworth Vandver. She had lived in the area for
42 years and was a member of the Living Church of God. She
enjoyed her dogs and gardening.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5,
2007 at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Visitation
for Mrs. West will be Saturday, 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Mrs. West was preceded in death by her parents: Curtis
E. Vandver and Joy J. Foxworth Long. She is survived by
her husband: A.C. West of Houston; Sisters: Rebecca Vandver
Adkins and husband Perry of Houston; Dawn Long Moreno and
husband David of New Braunfels; Brothers: Richard L. Vandver
and wife Amy of Tarkington Prairie and Curtis W. Vandver
of Houston; her Pups: Milo, Pewter, Ubo, Popsqualley, and
Jabo; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
Nutt-Lang
Terri Shannon Nutt Lang, 41, of Romayor, Texas, passed
away Saturday, May 5, 2007. She was born in Houston, Texas
on March 29, 1966 to Leo S. and Barbara Ann Nutt.
Terri is preceded in death by her daughter, Stevee Taylor
Powell and survived by her parents; grandmother, Ella Creel;
sons, Shannon Ray Anglin, Joseph Frank Anglin; grandchild,
Mia Bell Anglin; brother, Michael Dean Nutt; and so many
other loving family members and caring friends beyond measure.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 7, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00
p.m. in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside
services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at
Holly Grove Cemetery, Livingston, Texas.
Gremillion
Phyllis Beverly Applegate Gremillion, 59, of Dayton, passed
away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at home after an extended illness.
She was born July 22, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana to
parents, Phillip and Audrey Cameaux Applegate. Before retiring
Mrs. Gremillion had worked as a dispatcher in the trucking
industry. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception
Church in Liberty where she sang in the choir and a religious
education teacher. She will be remembered as a loving wife
and mother and will be missed dearly by her parish family.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 10,
2007 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Liberty with
Father David Edwards officiating.
Mrs. Gremillion is survived by her husband: Brent Gremillion
of Dayton; her daughter: Autumn Russek and husband Jeffrey
of Pearland; her son: Brent Gremillion, II of Little Rock,
Arkansas; her sister: Tolanda Langehennig of Pearland and
her brother: John Applegate of Mardeville, Louisiana.
Chism
Raymond “Ray” Lee Chism, 30, of Dayton died
Saturday, May 19, 2007. He was born April 30, 1977 in St.
Joseph, Missouri to parents, Danny R. and Sharon Meagher
Chism. He had lived in this area for the past 24 years where
he graduated from Dayton High School in 1997. While at DHS
he was a trainer in the athletic department. Ray was a member
of the Trinity Baptist Church and was a charter member of
the 321 Volunteer Fire Department. He was currently employed
at the Waffle House in Baytown, was known for helping others,
enjoyed computers, cars, and working in the yard.
Graveside Services for Ray will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday,
May 23, 2007 at Magnolia Park Cemetery with Rev. Mike Blackburn
officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00, Tuesday evening
at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Mr. Chism was preceded in death by his grandfather: Raymond
Meagher, uncle: Raymond Meagher, and aunt: Tammy Meagher.
He is survived by his mother: Sharon Woosley and husband
Don of Dayton; his father: Danny Chism of Missouri; his
sister: Dawn Nelson of Dayton and his brother: Charles “Billy”
Nelson, Jr. of Dayton; grandmother: Leora Meagher of Missouri;
also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and
friends.
Denny
Robert Mark Denny, 46, of Splendora died Tuesday, May 22,
2007 at Kingwood Regional Medical Center after an extended
illness. He was born August 9, 1960 in Pasadena, Texas to
parents, Robert F. and Jean Blue Denny. After high school,
Mark attended Texas A&M and Lamar University. He was
currently employed with Shell Chemical in Deer Park and
was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cleveland.
He was an avid outdoorsman, as he enjoyed fishing, camping,
and hunting. Mark also served in the United States Army.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2007 at
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with Rev. David L. Moore
officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington
Prairie. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.,
Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Denny was preceded in death by his father: Robert F.
Denny and his niece: Adrian L. Brown. He is survived by
his wife of three years: Kathy Dupree Denny of Splendora;
his mother: Jean Blue Denny of Tarkington Prairie; his daughters:
Michelle Overbay of Humble, Miranda Overbay Smart of Dayton,
and Melissa Overbay of Kenefick; his sons: Michael Overbay
of Plum Grove, and Matthew Overbay of Splendora; his grandchildren:
Bret Rose Smart, James A. Matthis, and Brinkley Matthis;
also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Brown
Charles Joseph “Joe” Brown, 73, of Dayton,
died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his home in Dayton after an
extended illness. He was born December 2, 1933 in Mississippi
to parents Charles R. Baxter and Hertha Eugenie Garcia Brown.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean
Conflict and he was stationed in Guantanamo Bay. He had
lived in area for the past ten years. Before retiring he
worked for Morris Roofing in Pasadena and for Harris County.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Old River Assembly of God
Church, enjoyed gardening, football, and watching John Wayne
movies.
Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007
at the Old River Assembly of God Church with Rev. Kerry
Sampson officiating.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and his
son, Delbert Brown. He is survived by his wife of 51 years:
Betty Garner Brown of Dayton; daughters: Barbara Dockery
and Marion Hogan and husband Glenn of Dayton; sons: Billy
Brown and wife Debra of Hockley, Walter Brown and wife Barbie
of Dayton, and Charles L. Brown and wife Michaelle of Baytown;
13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, also numerous other
relatives and friends.
Sellars
Bill D. Sellars, 79, of Dayton, died Saturday, May 26,
2007, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Alexander Campus
in Baytown.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday,
May 30, 2007, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with
burial following at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton.
Visitation will be held from
1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services
are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in
Dayton.
Bill was born January 15, 1928 in Alexandria, LA, to parents;
Wesley O. Sellars and Cora E. Turner, a former resident
of Baytown, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past
30 years. He had attended the Corpus Christi Christian College,
veteran of the US Navy with service during World War II,
retired welding superintendent for Brown and Root after25
years of employment, and member of the Goose Creek Masonic
Lodge #1192 AF & AM. He also enjoyed computers, landscaping,
oil painting, writing, travel, and going to the dog races.
Mr. Sellars was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter:
Sara Sellars, and brother: Bobby Sellars. He is survived
by his wife of 47 years: Ruth Kaelke Sellars of Dayton,
daughters: Gayle Cash and husband Willy Lutz of Pasadena,
Barbara Clark and husband Gary of FL, and Ruth E. Marburger
of Brenham, son: Gary D. Sellars of Humble, grandchildren:
Gay Lynn Branham and husband Eldon, Tammy Cash, Paul Clark,
and Daniel Sellars, great-grandchildren: Christopher, Ashley,
Kelly, and Johnathan, sister-in-law: Faye Sellars of FL,
and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Massay
James David Massay, 88, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away
at Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday, May 27, 2007. He
was born on September 23, 1918 to Tom and Mae Massay of
whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Elizabeth Massay;
daughter, Michal Worthy; sons, David Massay, Paul Massay;
grandchildren, Stephen and Richard; great-grandchildren,
Jesse, Gavin, Ethan, Logan; along with so many other cherished
family members and caring friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 26, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00
p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. Funeral
services will be held Sunday, May 27, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at
First Baptist Church of Coldspring, Texas.
Lowe
Vernon Carl Lowe, 79, of Dayton passed away on Monday,
May 28, 2007 at his home after an extended illness. He was
born April 1, 1928 in Tarkington Prairie, Texas to parents
Pat. C. and Delia Lowe. He was a life long resident of the
area where he was a graduate of Liberty High School. He
was owner and operator of Lowe Oil Company in Dayton for
over 35 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Lowe enjoyed hunting and his Great Dane dogs, also reading
western novels.
Services for Mr. Lowe will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May
31, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with
interment to follow at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday
evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife
of 49 years, Glenda Graves Lowe, and his son: Kelly Lowe.
He is survived by his daughters: Lynn Harding and husband
Claude of Dayton, Jerry Martin and husband Dave of Houston,
and Kristy Patchett and husband Steve of Houston; seven
grandchildren: Lars Harding and wife Dana, Aric Harding
and wife Glenna, Chris Martin and wife Stephanie, Ryan Martin
and wife Joette, Carrie Neal and husband Calvin, Tracy Brigman
and husband Ivan, and Michael Lipsey; great-grandchildren:
Ariana, Lydia and Drake Harding, Rylor Harding, Cadee and
Wyatt Martin, Kellan Martin, Tristin and Taylor Brigman.
