Knight
Madine “Walker” Knight, 83, of
West Columbia, Texas, passed away at her residence Monday,
October 1, 2007. She was born in Security, Texas on May
1, 1924 to Joseph L. “John” and Clemmie E. Walker.
She has been a member of the community for 54 years, Baptist
in faith and member of Wild Peach Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by both parents;
brothers, Curtis Walker, Suel Walker, Preacher Walker, J.C.
Walker; sisters, Margie Andrews and Reba Stone. Survivors
include her husband of 64 years, Travis H. Knight; son,
Travis Wayne Knight; daughters, Mary Jo Weathford and husband,
Ray, Charlene Pierce and husband, Randy, Donna Sue Jakubec
and husband, Otto; she was blessed with seven grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and
other cherished family members and caring friends.
Visitation will start at 8:30 prior to service
time at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, Pace-Stancil
Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at
Morgan Cemetery.
Barnes
Lucille A. Barnes, 89, of Cleveland, Texas,
passed away Thursday, October 1, 2007. She was born in Lovelady,
Texas on March 28, 1918 to Richard and Lillie Belle Atkinson
who preceded her in death along with her husband, Bob Barnes;
sister, Floy Dunkerly; and her brother, F.E. Atkinson.
Survivors include her son, Richard Barnes
of Houston, Texas; nephews, Richard Atkinson and wife, Linda
of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Charles Atkinson of Columbus,
Ohio; niece, Mary Jo Havard and husband, Buckey of Tarkington
Prairie, Texas and numerous caring friends.
Graveside services were held Thursday, October
4, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at San Jacinto Memorial Cemetery, Houston,
Texas.
Lilly
George Allen Lilly, age 60, of New Caney,
Texas, passed away Tuesday. October 2, 2007. He was born
to Emmit R. and Lyndal Lilly in Nacogdoches, Texas on March
13, 1947.
He was Methodist in faith and truck driving
in life. He worked for Central Freight as a contract driver.
He always enjoyed sports, fishing. He is also a former resident
of Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his father, Emmit
Lilly; brothers, Jimmy Howard and Joe Lynn Williams. Survivors
include his loving wife of 40 years, Lagatha Lambert Lilly
of New Caney, Texas; mother Lyndall Zezulka; daughter, Tabatha
Lambert and husband, David of New Caney, Texas; sons, Ricky
Lilly and wife, Michelle of Crosby, Texas, Joshua Lilly
and wife, Nicole of New Caney, Texas; brothers, Jimmy Howard
of Houston, Texas, Joe Lynn Williams of Nacogdoches, Texas;
grandchildren, Anna Lilly and Bryan Lambert with numerous
nieces and nephews along with many other loving family members
and caring friends.

David C. “Bubba” Smith, 56, of
Huffman, died Thursday, October 4, 2007, at the Memorial
Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October
7, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of Huffman with burial
following at Huffman Cemetery in Huffman. Visitation will
be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Home in Dayton.
David was born September 4, 1951, in Pasadena, to parents;
Billy Jean and Margie Nell Towler Smith, and has resided
in the Huffman area throughout his life. He graduated from
the Humble High School class of 1969, had attended Lee College,
was a shift supervisor for Arkema, Inc. of Crosby, and enjoyed
boating, camping, gardening, and to tinker. He will be remembered
as a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of four years: Brenda
Harris Smith of Huffman, son: Kyle Smith of Huffman, daughters:
Elizabeth Page and husband Forrest of Atascocita and Amber
Sullivan of Seabrook, one grandchild: Tristin Page, parents:

Kelly
Amy E. Yundt Kelly, 40, of Dayton, died Thursday,
October 4, 2007, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October
8, 2007, at the Crosby Church with burial following at the
Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will
beheld from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Amy was born June 17, 1967 in Mexico City DS, to parents;
Charles and Betty Roozee Yundt, a former resident of Houston,
and has resided in the Dayton area for the past seven years.
She attended the University of St. Edwards, the University
of Texas at Austin, and received her Bachelors degree from
the University of Houston, was an accountant for Peoples
Trust Credit Union, Shell Credit Union, and Prime Way Credit
Union, member of the Crosby Church, and enjoyed camping,
travel, and shopping.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her father: Charles
Yundt. She is survived by her husband of six years: Joseph
“Joe” Kelly of Dayton, daughters: Amber Kelly
of Dayton and Candace Williams and husband Tim of Dayton,
son: Joseph Kelly, Jr. of Dayton, mother: Betty Roozee Yundt
of McAllen, brothers: John Yundt of Dallas and Eric Yundt
of Costa Rica, nieces and nephews: Paul, Jr., Zach, George,
Jr., Noah, Arturo, Carlo, Stephanie, Wendi, Kasey, Shanna,
and Ixchel, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
Johnson
Travis Allan Johnson passed away on Friday,
October 5, 2007 after a long illness with cancer. Travis
was a lifetime resident of Cleveland; born in Houston, Texas
17 years ago on September 18, 1990. Travis was a fun loving
child that grew up to be a very respectable young man. He
was an avid hunter and enjoyed eating the game that he bagged
too. Baseball was a sport that was trilling to him. He loved
playing ball and going to the games. He adored his animals,
that you could clearly see.
Travis has so many Ribbons and Trophies they
can’t all be displayed. Most of all though . . . he
loved his family and friends.
Waiting to meet him on the other side are his brother, Joshua
Johnson; great-grandmother, Florence Pevehouse; grandmother,
Priscilla Keeton; grandfather, Raymond Johnson. Survivors
include his parents, Johnny and Deborah Johnson; grandparents,
Richard Becker and wife, Mary, JoAnn Anderson; his inspirational
friend, Courtney Huckabay and David Lee Sheffield along
with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many other loving
and caring family members and cherished friends beyond measure.

9, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, Cleveland, Texas
77328. His final resting place is at Pace-Stancil Memorial
Rest Gardens.
Herndon
Donald R. “Don” Herndon, 73, of
High Island, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 in
Galveston after an extended illness. He was born March 27,
1934 in Liberty, Texas to parents, Willie J. and Ouida Havard
Herndon. He attended Liberty High School, served in the
United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member
of the American Legion Post #0020 in Galveston. He was owner/operator
of Don’s Glass Service in Liberty for over 25 years,
enjoyed the beach, fishing and had a great passion for music,
especially bluegrass, country, and gospel.
Service for Mr. Herndon will be 2:30 p.m.,
Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home
Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at Ryan Cemetery
in Tarkington. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
both Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and
his great-grandson: Sven Herndon and is survived by his

Woolery, Katie Ann, age 47, of McAlester,
Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2007. She
was born in Comanche, Oklahoma on February, 29, 1960. She
is preceded in death by Tina Ann Mize, Granny Eloise Babin
and Papa Buck Babin. Survivors include her loving husband,
Roger Woolery; mother, Sharon Mercer; daughter, Linda “Sissy”
Bratton; sons, Steven Ray Mize and wife, Pam, Travis Lee

Karl Edward Wallace, Jr., 85, of Oakhurst,
Texas, passed away, Thursday, October 11, 2007. He was born

Evelyn McAnally passed away Monday, October
8, 2007 at Helping Hands Personal Care Home. She was born
94 years ago on Tarkington Prairie, Texas on September 25,
1913 to Joseph Benjamin and Laura Agnes Simmons who precede
her in death along with her husband, Marshall McAnally.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Ann
Kopetsky and husband, Gene; one son, Joseph Weldon McAnally
and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Kevin McAnally and wife,
Angela and Curtis McAnally and wife, Janet; great-grandchildren,
Shaina, Nylah, and Ana; and her friend and caregiver, Mary
Murray.

Earline Morgan Callahan, age 55, of Shepherd,
Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2007. She was
born May 21, 1952 to Grady and Jeanne Morgan who precede

Morgan; and her twin brother Earl Morgan.

Zavalla, Texas on December 19, 1936 to Ruben and Cletta

Frank Lowe and Amos Mayo; sister, Mary Stanley; sister-in-law,
Ella Mayo.
Paul Mayo was a Brick Mason, well known and
respected throughout the community.

Kenneth H. Alton, 60, of Coldspring, Texas,
passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2007. He was born in
Watertown, New York on December 25, 1947. Survivors include

Kenneth Alton, Jr. and Vanessa, James Miller and Angie;
sisters, Marie Anderson and James, Terri Richards; 18 grandchildren
and 5 great-grandchildren; numerous other loving family

Hobbs
Estella Helen Hobbs, born June 18, 1916 in
Yorktown, Texas, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, in Conroe,
Texas, at the age of 91.
She was preceded in death by her parents Benhardt
(Ben) and Lydia Louise (Halberdier) Pieper of George West,
Texas. She was the last living child in her family of eight
children, including her brothers Sam, Ed, Arthur, John Hugo,
Alfred, and Jerome Pieper, and by her sister Elsa Lehmberg.
She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Leonard
K. Hobbs and great granddaughter, Lydia Ruby Pearce.
She is survived by her three daughters and
sons-in-law Helen and Troy Bearden of New Braunfels, Texas,
Betty Jo and David Phillips of Willis, Texas, and Ruby and
Homer McDonald of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived
by her four grandchildren Regina DeLine, Troy D. Bearden,
Cherie Aills, and Suzanne Pearce and husband, Rex; two sisters-in-law
Sally Pieper and Mary Pieper; and her nine great grandchildren
Mike DeLine and wife, Diana, Jason DeLine, Kirby DeLine,
Eden Pearce, Ethan Pearce, Abigail (Abby) Pearce, Robby
Aills, Haley Aills and Victoria Bearden and many nieces
and nephews.
Known by many as Granny Hobbs, she lived her
early life on the farm in Live Oak County and near the old
Rabke Community. Later she married and eventually moved
to San Antonio, Texas, where she lived for many years until
all of her children were grown and married. In recent years
she was a resident of Cleveland, Texas until she realized
a dream of moving to her first new home, which was built
for her by family and friends so she would have their care
and support as her health waned.
She will always be remembered for her independence,
self sufficiency and hard work ethic and her wonderful bake
goods. She was always an example of strength and loved and
revered by the many people who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be celebrated
by family and friends at a graveside service on October
15, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens
on Hwy 2025 (Cold Springs Rd), Cleveland, Texas. about 5
miles out Cold Springs Rd).

Lela Calline “Callie” Havard,
age 21, resident of Cleveland, Texas, died in a tragic car
accident October 12, 2007. Callie was born in Baytown, Texas
to Dale Havard and Cindy Sumner on July 31, 1986. Callie
was a fun loving girl with lots of heart. Her family and
friends will miss her immensely.

Wallace
HUNTSVILLE – Karl Edward Wallace Jr,,
85, a veterinarian, longhorn rancher and retired Colonel
in the U.S Army, died Thursday Oct 11, 2007, in Huntsville
Texas.
SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 20th, Saint
Stephens Presbyterian Church, 2700 McPherson Ave., Fort
Worth. Reverend Frederick Field Ritsch III officiating.

Karl Wallace was born in Bangs Texas on March
14th 1922 to Col Karl E. Wallace and Camille Shield Wallace.
He graduated Paschal high school in Fort Worth, and attended
North Texas Agricultural College. He graduated from Texas
A&M.
He fought in France and Germany as an Infantry
Officer in Gen. George Patton’s Third Army. He fought
in the famed Battle of the Bulge, entered Germany, and met
the Russians on the Leitz River. During the war he was wounded
twice, received two battlefield promotions, achieved four
campaign stars, a purple heart with a cluster, and a Bronze
Star. During the war he was one of a dozen former A&M
Students who held the traditional Aggie Muster in Nuremberg
Germany on April 21, 1944.
After the war Karl received a second degree
from Texas A&M, became a veterinarian and opened his
first veterinary hospital in Fort Worth. In the National
Guard he helped reorganize the 36th division and commanded
a tank battalion in the 49th armored. He retired from the
military a full Colonel in 1965.
Upon retirement his great love was his ranch
and his longhorn cattle. He received a lifetime Achievement
award from the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association, and
an Outstanding Achievement award from the American Veterinary
Medical Association.
He is survived by a son Karl Edward Wallace
III, sisters Beryl Wilkinson, Lynn Bass, and Niki Dameron-Smith,
a brother Wayne Wallace, and his partner Robert Guenther.

Okalena Smith, 77, of Spring, Texas, passed
away October 14, 2007. She was born in New Willard, Texas
on March 18, 1930 to Don A. and Ada Mae Smith.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Deberha
Prescott. Donna Howell and husband, Ralph, Carolyn Lynn
Yauger and husband, Doug; grandchildren, Alyssa Wright,
Christopher Yauger, Tiffany Yauger, Chairity Yauger, Joy

Carolyn Ann Whitehead Wilson, 51, of Dayton
passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in Galveston after
an extended illness. She was born January 16, 1956 in Houston,
Texas to parents, James Dale Whitehead and Betty Ann Mayhew
Whitehead. She was a long time resident of this area and
enjoyed doing crafts.

Velma Estelle Bates Freeman, 71, of Baton
Rouge passed away Tuesday, October 16 after an extended
illness. She was born October 12, 1936 in Fort Smith, Arkansas
to parents Andrew Jefferson Bates, Sr. and Betty Elvada
Thompson Bates.
Graveside services for Mrs. Freeman will be

Chu Brinser, age 76 on August 16, 1931, of
Tarkington Prairie, Texas, passed away, Tuesday at the Woodland
Memorial Hermann October 16, 2007. Her family originated
in Central China, The Kiangsu Province. Her father was killed
during the China’s war with Japan and her mother raised
the children and cared for the grandparents and other family
members. She is preceded in death by her father, Wei-Ching
Shiah; mother, Chu-Shen Shiah; and her loving husband, Amos
Albert Brinser.

and husband, James Joseph, Sue Hsia Taylor and husband,

Daniels
Richard D. “Rick” Daniels, Jr.,
49, of Dayton died Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Houston.
He was born January 4, 1958 in Texarkana, Texas to parents:
Richard Daniels, Sr. and Ailene Buford Daniels. He had lived
in the Dayton area for the past 12 years, previously of
Dallas. He was previously employed by Hunt Co. in Pasadena
as a forklift operator. Rick enjoyed fishing, boxing, and
martial arts. He was a member of the Baytown Revival Center.
Services for Mr. Daniels will be 2:00 p.m.,
Monday, October 22, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Donnie Harvey officiating. Interment will follow
at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his father: Richard
D. Daniels, Sr. and is survived by his wife Murlene Jordan
Daniels of Dayton; his sons: Richard Dakota Daniels of Dayton,
Johnny Knight of Baytown, Leo Knight of Alvin, and Chad
Allen Daniels of Bonham; his daughters: Michelle Alexander
of Baytown, April Lynn Young of Old River, Jessica Daniels
of Bonham, Patricia Lynn Daniels of Bonham, Dosha Daniels
of Bonham; his mother: Ailene Fields of McKinney; thirteen
grandchildren; also numerous other family member and a host
of friends.
Smith
Hazel D. Nelson Smith, 93, of Beaumont died
Monday, October 22, 2007 peacefully at her residence. She
was born February 11, 1914 in Dayton, Texas to parents,
Carl D. and Anna K. Seaberg Nelson and graduated from Dayton
High School in 1931. She was a resident of High Island for
over 50 years, a member of the High Island ISD PTA, worked
as tax collector for the High Island ISD, and was a former
member of the Order of the Eastern. She was a member of
the First United Methodist Church in Winnie where she was
active in the choir. Mrs. Smith enjoyed gardening, tending
her flowers especially her roses, the piano, playing dominos,
and canasta.
Services for Mrs. Smith will be 2:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home
Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at Magnolia Park
Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday,
October 23, 2007, at the Funeral Home.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband:
Louis J. Smith; her grandsons: Lanny McBride, Jr., and Danny
Smith, Jr. and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter:
Judy Meaux of Beaumont; her sons: Donny Smith and wife Velma
of Groves, and Marvin Smith and wife Penny of Winnie; her
brothers: James Nelson and Silas Nelson both of Dayton;
14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 6 great great-grandchildren;
numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Taff
Dr. Willeford Norris Taff, age 81, of Cleveland,
Texas, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, October
22, 2007. Dr. Taff was born in Gilmer, Texas on March 21,
1926 to Herbert S. and Fay Taff who preceded him in death.
Visitation begins Tuesday, October 23, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00
p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at Westside Church of Christ,
Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Jane Taff; daughters,
Brenda Taff Gardner, Janie Taff Prather, Allison A. Taff;
sons, Norris Taff, Jr. and Michael S. Taff; ten grandchildren,
two great-grandchildren; his Aunt Alta Helms and so many

Boudreaux-McKnight
Lacey S. Boudreaux-McKnight, 18, of Huffman,
died Sunday, October 21, 2007 in Dayton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.,
Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the First Baptist Church
of Dayton with private family interment following. Visitation
will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, October 24,
2007, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction
of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Lacey was born February 14, 1989 in Humble
to parents; Mike Boudreaux and Sherri Dawn McKnight, a former
resident of Dayton, and has resided in the Huffman area
for the past three years. She was a leasing agent for Fair
Lake Crossing in Huffman, graduate of the Marque Christian
Academy class of 2007, and enjoyed photography, dancing,
and spending time with her friends.
Miss McKnight was preceded in death by her
grandparents: W. C. Averitt, Elvina Corrick, and Robert
W. Matthieu, great-grandmother: Emma Gene McKnight, aunt:
Sandra Fish, and cousin: Carolyn Stentz. She is survived
by her mother: Dawn Young and fiancé Jim Maxwell
of Huffman, father: Mike Boudreaux and wife Tammy of Cypress,
brothers and sisters: Jacob Thompson of Shreveport, LA,
Breeanna Thompson of Cypress, Dalton Boudreaux of Montgomery,

Patricia Ann Mizell, 60, of Cleveland, Texas,
passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2007. She was born in Cleveland,
Texas on April 28, 1947 to Joe Samuel and Dora Angeline
Stephens who preceded her in death along with her granddaughter,
and brother. Survivors include he loving husband, Arthur
Mizell; daughters, Tamera Richardson, Jerilynn Smith; grandchildren,
Robin Richardson, Stephen Smith, Ricky Owens; sister, Dorothy
Moore; brother, Jerry Stephens; with numerous nieces, nephews
and many other loving and caring family members and cherished
friends. Memorial service will be held Friday, November
2, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at North Cleveland Baptist Church, Cleveland,

Przyborski
Dennis George Przyborski of Somerville, Texas,
passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the age of 76.
He was born in Latium, Texas on November 11, 1930.
He is survived by daughters, Kathy Hollas
and husband Robert, Pamela Ray and Patricia Blackmon; grandchildren,
Wesley, Matthew, Katie, Wendy, Monica, Laura and Angela;
and 11 great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, October 30, 2007,
10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church Cleveland, Texas
with interment at Forest Hills Cemetery in Livingston, Texas.

Edna Hawthorne, 95, of Shepherd, Texas, pass
away on Tuesday, October 30, 2007. She was born in Shepherd,
Texas and was a lifetime resident of Shepherd born on July
8, 1912. She is preceded in death by her loving husband,
Harvey Arthur Hawthorne; daughter Clara Eloise Hawthorne,
grandson, Harvey Edward Hawthorne, Jr.; sisters, Elvie Viola
Reeves, Alice Gertude Hood, Mattie Irene Beene, Mary Agnes
Hawthorne, Vera Mae Sammons; brothers, Charlie Monroe Taylor,
Robert Hardin Taylor, Joe Hubert Taylor.
Survivors include her son, Harvey Edward Hawthorne,
Sr. and wife, Faye; grandchildren, Donald Gwen Hawthorne
and wife, Glinda Yvonnne, Carla Renee Hoard and husband,
