Lola attended Dayton public schools and was a proud graduate of the class of 1952. She joined the work force in Houston as a secretary for a short period of time but soon returned home to Dayton and married James “Buster” Damek. She gave full support to her husband who was a farmer and gave birth to two sons. After the early death of her husband she flourished as being a role model and sole parent to her sons. She cherished her role as a wonderful homemaker and was well known for her home crafted meals. Her main specialty was a Cajun gumbo recipe passed down by her mother that often was the family meal for special occasions. Lola had a green thumb, and she could grow most anything from a cutting. She loved gardening, raising plants and flowers of every description and sharing them with all.
Lola was a devout Christian and was well known for her strength of character, reliability, trustworthiness, and integrity. These traits were reflected in all aspects of her daily life and her commitment to husband, family, and friends. She later married Robert L. Fosburgh and served by his side as he pastored Methodist churches in Freeport, Huntsville, Midway, Warren and the South Liberty United Methodist Church. She loved her extended church families and was always ready to extend a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Milton Hamer, Gus Hamer, and sister Mildred Andrus. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 37 years; Robert L. Fosburgh; sons, Dennis Damek and wife Mary and Blane and wife Jenifer of Dayton; granddaughter, Savannah Hilderbrand and husband Jason; great-grandchild, Hayes Hilderbrand; sisters, Hazel Neuman of Livingston and Cuba Horne of Austin; also numerous other relatives and friends.
