Amanda M. "Pat" Cantrell

November 26, 1940 — January 24, 2011

Amanda M. “Pat” Payne Cantrell, 70, of Dayton, died Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Odyssey House in Conroe. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.  Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.  Pat was born November 26, 1940 in Camden, to parents; Herman H. and Willie M. Jordan Payne, and a longtime resident of Dayton.  She was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1959, a retired telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and former member of the Order of Eastern Star.  She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 47 years:  Roy D. Cantrell, and brother:  Gary “Buzz” Payne.  She is survived by her daughter:  Brenda L. Marsh and husband Bubba of Conroe, son:  Troy Cantrell and wife Stacy of Dayton, grandchildren:  Joshua L. Marsh, Lisa L. Smart, Vickie A. Marsh, Jordan B. Cantrell, Katelynn N. Cantrell, and Kayla E. Cantrell, great-grandchildren:  Hayden C. Marsh, Briana N. Marsh, Dylan A. Smart, and Chett K. Smart, sisters:  Barbara Watson and husband Buck of Eagle Lake and Scharlene Prazak and husband Johnny of Eagle Lake, brothers:  Bobby Payne and wife Jo of Dayton and Sherman “Bo” Payne and wife Linda of Crosby, sister-in-law:  Susie Payne of Dayton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
