Coleman G Carter

Coleman G. Carter, 83, of Kenefick, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church with graveside services at 1:00 p.m., at Grandview Memorial Park in Pasadena. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Coleman was born June 4, 1930, in Palestine, Arkansas, to parents; George and Ruth Meatte Carter, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 45 years. He was a graduate of the Galena Park High School, attended Texas A&M, and received his Jurisprudence Degree from the South Texas College of Law. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during Korea, member of the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church and the Bar Association for 50 years. Mr. Carter was also a former Pasadena City Council member and City Attorney for Friendswood. He also enjoyed gardening, and tending to his land. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his mother: Ruth Meatte Carter, father: George Carter, Sr., wife: Gayle Carter, sister: Mrilyn Carter Black, and brothers: George Carter Jr., Bob Carter, and Doug Carter. He is survived by his wife of three years: Ethel Bair Carter of McKinney, Texas, sons: Coleman Carter, Jr. and wife Dee of Colorado, Ronald Carter and wife Terrie of Liberty, Daniel Carter and wife Tracey of Deer Park, daughters: Barbara Eggleston and husband Pat of Dayton, Becky Koen and husband Tommy of Hardin, and Jean Ann Chitty of Pasadena. grandsons: Jeff Chitty, Joe Carter, Cole Carter, David Carter, Micah Harris, Todd Harris, Chase Harris, Bruce Carter, Patrick Carter, Kyle Carter, and Patrick Eggleston, granddaughters: Julie Ripkowski, Ashley Jones, Rachael Brumley, Kelly Carter, Melissa Slate, Tasha Marsh, Lauren Hodge, Sarah Jones, great-grandchildren: Calhoun Carter, Lele Brumley, Kash Brumley, Zach Chitty, Matthew Chitty, Hannah Chitty, Cami Ripkowski, Carter Harris, James Jones, Madison Slate, Carter Slate, Aubree Jones, Miranda Marsh, and Henry Marsh, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
