Douglas “Doug” Kirby Caldwell, 89, of Liberty died Friday, November 9, 2012. He was born April 29, 1923 in Remlig, Texas to parents Robert Kirby Caldwell and Ida Belle Sparks Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was a lifelong resident of Liberty County and had worked for Ward-McCarty and Schlumberger before retiring. He was a 50 year plus member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge No. 48. and served during World War II in the United States Navy on the U.S. New Jersey. Service for Mr. Caldwell will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the funeral home. Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence and James Caldwell, sisters Johnnie Hall, Lovice Roth and Opal Barrow. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Caldwell of Liberty; son Mike Caldwell and wife Brenda of Daisetta; daughter Barbara Roberts and husband Mike of Crosby; grandchildren: Shawn Caldwell and wife Melody, Chris Roberts, Brandon Caldwell, Stefanie Taylor and husband Brandon, Trevor Caldwell, Kayla Roberts, and Colton Caldwell; great grandchildren: Colin Roberts, Hunter Caldwell, Brayden Caldwell, Michael Taylor, and Matthew Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Shawn Caldwell, Chris Roberts, Brandon, Trevor Caldwell, Colton Caldwell and Brandon Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Colin Roberts, Hunter Caldwell, Brayden Caldwell, Michael Taylor and Matthew Taylor.
