Gerald Michael Boyle, Sr.

November 7, 1942 — October 7, 2017

Gerald Michael Boyle, Sr., age 74 of Kingwood, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was born November 7, 1942 in Springfield, Illinois to parents Henry and Geraldine Boyle who preceded him in death along with his wife, Christine Boyle; and sister, Cindy Nagy.

Gerald, often called "Mick" by his friends, served the Springfield, Cleveland, and League City communities in many ways. In Springfield, he was a member of the Red Cross "Ice Divers" team, Red Cross Water Safety Team, Scout Leader, and Prop Club member. In Cleveland, as a long serving member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he served as Knights of Columbus member, like his father, a member of the Alter Society, CHRP team member, Charlie's Angels Sponsor, Youth Group Advisor, Eucharistic Minister, and along with his wife, Chris Boyle helped with many of the RCIA classes. Along with Chris, he also attended Marriage Encounter. In the Cleveland community, he served as Santa for the Optimist club giving out toys on Christmas Eve many years. Mike and Chris were also Band Boosters for the Royal Braves Band in Cleveland, TX for over 20 years. He served on the welcoming committee at St. Christopher's Church in League City and also donated time on Fridays to work in St. Christopher's resale shop benefiting battered women. As a transplant recipient, he would offer comfort and advice to families of transplantation when asked by local hospitals. He also donated many gallons of blood to local blood banks. Gerald was an avid fisherman and football fan. He enjoyed watching movies and reading books.

One relatively unknown fact about Mike is that he was a huge supporter of his daughter Christina's Band/Orchestra classes. For years, he gave her stacks of gold dollars obtained at the Post Office. Christina would give them to students earning highest marks on an assignment and say, "I'll buy that for a dollar." She always made sure the students knew the coins (and many other treats) came from her father. Many of Mrs. Marioneaux's former students still cherish their gold coins years after they have graduated from school.

Survivors include his sons, Gerald Michael Boyle and wife Melissa, Robert Shepherd and wife Tina, Danny Boyle and wife Brin; daughters, Julie Hollis and husband Brandon, Christina Marioneaux and husband James, Kathy Greenhouse and husband Scott; brothers, Henry “Bud” Boyle, Pat Boyle and wife Linda; sister, Myra Cox; grandchildren, Aaron Shepherd, Ryley Greenhouse, Ivy Greenhouse, Tucker Boyle and Ember Boyle; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
