James Allen Webb Smith

James Allen Webb Smith, 69 of Conroe passed away July 23, 2022, in Dayton, Texas, at his daughter’s home. James was born December 6, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Perry Rowen Smith, Sr. and Norma Dalehite Smith.

He spent his younger years in San Antonio moving to Houston when he was 16 years old. He graduated in 1971 from Robert E. Lee High School. He had lived in Conroe for the past 12 years and was previously of Houston. He spent most of his career as a skilled machinist. James was a veteran and proudly served in the United States Navy. He had a passion for cooking and trying all types of food recipes. He spent many years working on rebuilding motors and replacing engines in hot rod cars. He enjoyed his time at his brother Rowen’s ranch deer hunting. He spent many hours researching the Bible and specifically concentrated on studies of “The End Time Prophecies”. James loved to spend time with his family. Holidays were his favorite times with his children and grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, Mary Strughold. He is survived by his children, Amy Rutledge and husband John Rutledge, II, Jeremy Smith and wife Ashleigh Smith, Mary Amber Jones and husband Barry; grandchildren, Kaylee, Caleb, Shane, Addison, Joshua, Jayce, and Weston; brothers, Rowen Smith and wife Charissa, Terry Bruce Smith and wife Suay Smith, and Jason Smith; sister, Darlene Bowes and husband Russ; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends; also, the mother of his children, Teresa Smith.

A memorial service for James will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Dayton First Assembly with Rev. Rich Cope, Rev. Noble Enloe and Rev. Tim & Penny Landmon officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
