Joe Paul Copeland, 57, of Dayton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 29, 2015. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, TX, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015, at Grace Community Baptist Church in Dayton, TX, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakhurst, TX, July 3 at 3:00 p.m. Joe was born December 2, 1957 in Houston, to parents, Clarence E. and Mary H. Currie Copeland of Deer Park. He was a former resident of LaPorte, and has resided in Dayton for the past 30 years. Joe was a graduate of the Pasadena High School class of 1976 and attended San Jacinto Community College. He was a member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge #1155. Joe had been employed as a maintenance specialist at Chevron Phillips at Cedar Bayou for 35 years. Joe was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence E. and Mary H. Currie Copeland, and father-in-law, Damon Charles Thomas, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 29 years: Fawn Thomas Copeland of Dayton, children: Cody Lee Copeland and Ciara of Dayton, Kayla Elizabeth Copeland-Jones and husband Joshua of Dayton, and Caleb James Copeland and wife Taelor of Dayton, grandchildren: Layla Copeland, Joe Paul Copeland, II, Jase Jones, brothers: Steven Copeland of LaPorte and Clarence Copeland, III of Deer Park, numerous other relatives, and friends.
