Lenora was a dedicated wife, homemaker, and mother. She is a very proud grandmother and great-grandmother: known to her “babies” as Granny. She loved to sew and cook; her specialties were pies and chicken & dumplings. Lenora loved to read listen music and sing music. She sang all the time around the house and after she gave her heart and soul for salvation through the LORD Jesus Christ in 1962, she sang harmony and soprano alongside her husband, her brother in law Archie D. Jackson, and her sister, Loretta S. Walker, who would become the first in the family to call themselves The Jackson Family Quartet. The dynamics changed throughout their many years of service but her voice would be known for its high range and versatility of smooth transitions into harmonies. They traveled across the U.S. sharing their message in song of the gospel of Christ. She would be known for her operatic sound in southern gospel, singing school metered style singing, classic hymns, and bluegrass gospel in-the-style-of the Chuck Wagon Gang. She sang publicly the last time in 2018. She was a diligent Sunday School Teacher of toddlers for many years; and a loving nurturing Aunt to a host of nieces and nephews. She loves her in-laws like her own brothers and sisters with whom many, many precious memories and cherished moments were made never to be forgotten. The activity she loved best was being Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lenora will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Olin Salisbury; mother, Ella Mae Barber Millsap; step-father, Sgt. (ret.) Noah Frank Millsap, USAA; one brother, Jerry Milford Salisbury; ten in-laws, two nieces, and two nephews.

Lenora is survived by her husband-her heart, of 67 and a half years, Calvin B “Curly” Jackson; daughter, Deborah Damaras (Jackson) Wheeler and husband Johnny Wayne Wheeler; three grandsons: Adam Joseph Wheeler and his wife, Amanda “Mandy” (Weatherly) Wheeler, Caleb Andrew Wheeler, and Captain Daniel Phillip Wheeler, USAF, and his wife, Nicole (Coon) Wheeler; one sister, Loretta Walker and husband, Master Sgt (retired) Joe R Walker, USAF; two brothers, Delbert Olin Salisbury and spouse Delores; Cecil Edward Salisbury and spouse Rita; five great-grandchildren, Gideon Daniel Wheeler, Kaylee Elise Wheeler, Emma Grace Wheeler, Afton “Affie” Noelle Wheeler, and soon-to-arrive April 2019, Baby Boy Wheeler.
