Thomas Fox

Thomas Alexander Fox died of natural causes on May 22, 2011 at Odyssey House Hospice Hospital in Conroe, Texas. He was 89 years old when he died just two hours short of his 90th birthday.
Thomas was born in Bowie, Texas on May 23, 1921 to Price Arrie and Dora Fox. He was the middle of seven children. He graduated from Bowie High School in May of 1940. After high school he served in the United States Navy for almost 4 years during World War II. After the war was over and he was discharged from the service, he became employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he worked for 40 years before retiring in 1986.
He was married to the Virginia Lee Ward for 48 years until her death in 1995. Thomas was the father of four children, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was a Master Mason serving in various offices of the Tarkington Prairie Lodge for over 50 years. He was one of only a few Masons who have received a 50-year teaching certificate. Thomas was a committed Christian and his life reflected his steadfast faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Pin Oak Baptist Church where he was well loved and highly regarded. Thomas loved to garden and always gave away most of his crop to eager neighbors and friends. He also loved to play dominoes with friends and was well know for his quick wit and dry sense of humor.
Thomas is survived by his sister Audrey Dixon of Wichita Falls, Texas, his son Lee Fox and wife Carole of Conroe, Texas and his daughter Janice Fox of Leadville, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren: M. Zachary Fox and Wife Stephanie of League City, Texas; Rachael Mittendorf and husband Robert of Friendswood, Texas; Jennifer Miller of Leadville Colorado and Jessica Packard and her husband Jason of Fort Collins, Colorado. He is also survived by grandchildren: Piper and Sadie Fox; Olivia, Brady, Violet Mittendorf, Daniel and Matthew Fox; Noah and Christian Miller; Hailey Ogel; Shane, Joseph and Lessa Packard and Skyler Acre.
Thomas was preceded in death by: his wife Virginia; his sons Paul and Gregory; his brothers Aubrey, Leon and Osborn; his sisters Lavern Dalton and Thelma Dalton and his grandson Joseph Gregson.
Bro. George Hayden and Bro. Terry Haltom presided over funeral services held Saturday, May 28, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
