Obituary

Albert Guidry, 94, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on August 17, 2026.

Albert was born on March 23, 1932, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Jules Guidry and Anne Sinnette. A longtime resident of Dayton for 80 years, Albert built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and an appreciation for the simple things. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Albert was a devoted husband and loving father whose family meant everything to him. He shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Eliza Guidry, and the couple was looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary in October. He especially loved Eliza's cooking and enjoyed the many meals and memories they shared together.

Albert was a man who believed in taking pride in everything he did. He was always well put together, kept his shoes shined, and was known for wearing his jeans freshly starched. The same care extended to his vehicles, which he always kept clean and looking their best.

He also loved keeping busy outdoors. An avid gardener, Albert enjoyed growing vegetables and picking figs, which he would use for cooking and canning. In his later years, his love of gardening grew to include flowers, and he took great pleasure in tending to them. These simple routines brought him happiness and reflected the patient, hardworking spirit with which he lived his life.

Above all, Albert will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, the love and pride he had for his daughter and family, and the many years of memories he created with those closest to him. His steady presence and the little things that made him uniquely Albert will be deeply missed.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Jules Guidry and Anne Sinette; his sister, Annie Bell Provost; his brother, Rodney Guidry; his sisters-in-law, Marinda Lee and Johnnie Robinson; and his brothers-in-law, Ananias Gates, Charles Gates, and Sherman Gates.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Eliza Guidry; his daughter, Dr. Linda Gates Black and husband, Dillet Black; his grandchildren, Sean King, Adrienne King, Dillet Black II, and Darian Black; his great-grandchildren, Javian Black, Autumn Black, Maliah Queenan, Kaeden Queenan, and Kamren Queenan; his goddaughter, Stephanie Breaux; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.

A visitation for Albert will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Carl McNelty officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Guidry, Larry Harris, Hurley Provost Jr., Floyd Paley, Reese Green, and Billy Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Walter Broussard, Jordan Robinson, and Cedric Lee.
