Andle Eithia McCollough

Andle Eithia “Edie” Young McCollough, 91, left us on June 19, 2025, at her home in Liberty, TX.

Edie was born on August 6, 1933, in Kirbyville, Texas, to Ima Lee Boyett Young. She was the 2nd of 7 siblings, Arthur Young, Thomas Young, Donald Young, Ann Midkiff, Birdie Monte, and Barbara Hataway, all of Jasper, TX.

Edie was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a woman of remarkable strength and resilience. For 65 years, she shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, Jessie Leo McCollough. Together, they built a home filled with love and joyful chaos, raising 10 children with unwavering care and dedication.

Edie loved spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, and relaxing on her porch surrounded by flowers and birds. Edie and Leo shared a love for travel, often venturing to Arizona, Arkansas, Nevada, and New Mexico. Each trip they brought back unique treasures—rocks, petrified wood, cacti, flowers, and tumbleweeds—that found a special place in her cherished flower beds.

As part of their traveling, they volunteered with the Church of Christ Sojourners at various church camps before settling down at Hensel Church Camp in Marble Falls, Texas for several years.

One of Edie and Leo’s favorite getaways was to Fredericksburg, Texas, for a plate of her favorite BBQ ribs—always without the sauce, “The best she ever had.” No trip, however, was complete without a stop at Dairy Queen for a sundae or banana split.

Edie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jessie Leo McCollough; her mother, Ima Lee Boyett Young; three cherished children, Andle Lynn McCollough McMillen, Linda Carol McCollough Sholars and Troy Middleton McCollough; and grandson Cameron Paul Carter.

She is survived by her children: James Allen McCollough, Jessie Leo McCollough Jr., Carolyn Louise McCollough Renfro, Lou Ella McCollough Rawlinson, Ellanor Rose McCollough, Essie Gayle McCollough Taylor, and Marilyn Marie McCollough Dougharty.

Edie leaves behind a lasting legacy through her 34 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of loved ones and friends who will continue to honor her memory.
