Anthony Louis Daigle 85, of New Caney, TX passed away on March 29, 2025.
Anthony (known as Tony) was born at home on August 31, 1939, in Beaumont, Texas to Zennie & Caroline Lu June Daigle. He was raised and went to school in Beaumont, Texas. Later the family moved to China, Texas. After high school he joined the United States Army where he spent the next 7 years, 7 months and 7 days. During that time, he traveled Europe on the United States boxing team.
He became a member of the iron workers’ union local 84 where he was a member for more than 50 years. Well known as an expert welder and helped build many buildings in downtown Houston including Hyatt Regency, Pennzoil Twins and the Astrodome.
After retirement he bought 27 acres in Bug Scuffle, TX (right outside of Mount Enterprise) with his wife Barbara where they raised Santa Gertrudis cattle and Emus, had a big garden, he had a part time paper route, worked as a maintenance man at La Quinta and was a gate guard at a local flower plant farm.
Tony loved boxing, coonass food, blues music, history, Budweiser, cognac and Ezra Brooks whiskey. One of his favorite songs was Tomorrow Night by LaVern Baker.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Zennie & Caroline Lu June Daigle; wife, Barbara Ann Daigle; son, Bret Daigle; great granddaughter, Eden Grace Daigle; siblings, Paul, Billie, Butch, David, Lynn and Micheal Daigle.
Tony is survived by his sons, John Daigle and wife Cherry, Wayne Waddell and wife Carol, and David Waddell; daughter, Armelle De Fourchambault ; grandchildren, Heather Capen, Desmond Daigle, Amber Ritchie, Kelsey Dartez, Aaron Noble, Hafsa Gasmili, Brittany Followell, Tiffany Lane, Evan Waddell, Kaylee Waddell, James Waddell, Grayson Waddell & Serenity Waddell; great grandchildren, Houston Ritchie, Jace Daigle, Mason Noble, Kennedy Dartez, Amrie Followell, Max Followell, Adele Cameron, Lilly Capen, Myles Lane, Lylah Lane, Elliott Lane and Alton Lane; sister, Theresa Everage; brother, John Daigle.
Visitation for Mr. Daigle will be held on Saturday, April 5th from 12pm - 2pm in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland, Texas. The funeral service will follow at 2pm in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland, Texas. Mr. Daigle will be laid to rest at Cleveland Memorial Park in Cleveland, Texas.
