Obituary for Billy Joe Duff
Billy Joe Duff, 79, of Liberty, Texas, passed away on September 7, 2025. He was born on May 11, 1946, to Joe Elton Duff and Mildred Burch.
A lifelong resident of Liberty County, Billy was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and unwavering faith. In 1976, he founded Billy Duff Seafood, a local seafood market that became a staple of the community. For decades, he operated his business with pride and dedication, serving friends and neighbors with the same honesty and warmth that defined his life.
Billy was also a founding member of South Liberty Pentecostal Church, where he worshipped faithfully. He had a passion for music and could often be found playing the guitar and singing during church services, sharing his love of the Lord through song.
He was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a hand—or a tool—to anyone in need. Known for his vast collection of tools and his willingness to help with just about anything, Billy was a true friend and dependable neighbor. Above all, he loved his family deeply and cherished the time he spent with them.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mary Duff, his brother Jerry Duff, and his sister Sharon McGinnis.
He is survived by his children: Billy Duff Jr. and wife Charlotte, JoAnn Wyant and husband Larry, Mary Jane McQuiston and husband David; his brother Terry Duff; his grandchildren: Amber Brohawn and husband Micah, Amie Cowl and husband Lucas, Danielle Guia and husband Joel, Amanda Leonard and boyfriend Colby, CJ Leonard, Gibson Wyant and wife Catherine, Paige Fowler and husband DJ, Kaylon Wyant, and Cole Eberte and wife Jeannette; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.
