Billy J. Lewis

Billy J. Lewis was born May 25, 1926 in Limestone County, Texas to parents, John Wesley Lewis and Bessie Rowan Lewis. He passed away August 23, 2025 in Cleveland, Texas at the age of 99 years. 

Billy proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII. He worked for Tennessee Oil and Gas as a heavy equipment operator. Billy had a great love for his country, his community and his fellow soldiers and friends. He was a member of the VFW Post 1839 in Cleveland, Texas and was also a Master Mason in the Tarkington Prairie Lodge 498 AF&AM for over 65 years. Billy will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Bessie Lewis; beloved wife, Odessa Love Lewis; beloved son, Curtis Wayne Lewis; beloved sisters, Annie Belle Saddler, Katie Frey Bittick, and Hazel “Sug” Juanita Stanford; beloved brother, Jack Lewis. Billy is survived by his beloved granddaughter, Jessica Leigh Lewis; beloved nephews, Gib Lewis and Johnny Jack Stanford; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel from 1-2pm. Funeral Service will begin at 2pm with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan Cemetery.
