Bonnie Byerley

Bonnie Anette Byerley, born Bonnie Anette Williams on June 22, 1935, in Dayton, passed away on April 27, 2024, in Broussard, Louisiana. She was a 1953 graduate of Dayton High School and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Bonnie led a life filled with love, joy, and dedication to her family. She married her high school sweetheart, John S. Byerley Jr., and together they raised Four children. Initially a devoted stay-at-home mom caring for her children—Elton "Don" Byerley, John "Curtis" Byerley, Deborah Byerley West, and Linda Byerley Medina—Bonnie later joined her husband in their oilfield company after the children had grown. Despite retirement, she found new adventures by traveling with the girls.

Her love for flower gardening and crafts was evident to all who knew her. Bonnie's culinary skills were legendary; she was renowned for her homemade cakes, candies, pies, and popcorn balls that brought happiness to many.

Bonnie will be dearly missed by her surviving family: son Elton "Don" Byerley (Karen); grandsons Michael Medina, Curtis Medina (Myra), Pete Medina, Christopher Byerley, Brandon Byerley (Laura) and Travis West; great-grandchildren Alec Medina, Ashton Medina, Diego Medina, Andres Medina, Layla Medina, Colton Medina, Trace Medina, Parker Medina, Tyler Byerley, Bailey Byerley and Ruby Byerley. She is also survived by sisters Zoble "Rickie" Beard and Angelia Williams along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her loving husband John S. Byerley Jr.; son John "Curtis" Byerley; daughters Deborah Byerley West and Linda Byerley Medina; parents James and Eileen Williams; brothers James "Jerome" Williams and Cecil Williams; sisters Ada Mire and Mary Landrum and granddaughter-in-law Jodene Medina.

The family acknowledges the incredible support received from wonderful neighbors and friends throughout Dayton and Louisiana. Special gratitude is extended to their caretakers Katie and Melissa and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care during Bonnie's final days.
