Obituary for Carlos "Charlie" Gonzalez
Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, age 66, passed away on June 6, 2025. Born on April 3, 1959, to Guadalupe Gonzalez and Hortensia Garcia, Charlie lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and a deep devotion to his family and faith.
A native of Hitchcock, Texas, and a graduate of Hitchcock High School, Charlie made his home in Baytown for the past 41 years. He was a proud member of the Gulf Coast Friends of NRA, an active participant in a Men’s Bible Study and regularly attended Crosby Church.
Charlie had a passion for classic cars and spent countless hours working on them, attending car shows, and participating in Hot Wheels conventions. A true handyman with a servant’s heart, Charlie could fix almost anything and was always willing to lend a hand. His ever-present smile and warm demeanor made him a friend to all—he truly never met a stranger.
What mattered most to Charlie was his family. He deeply loved his children and took immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren. Whether playing, laughing, or simply being present, he poured his heart into every moment with them.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Hortensia; his brother Tony Gonzalez; and his sister Rosie Soliz.
He is survived by his loving children, daughter Christina Gonzalez, and son Ryan Gonzalez and wife Cheyenne; his cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Bonano, Ryan Gonzalez II, and Elaina Gonzalez; his siblings, Lupe Gonzalez and wife Janie, Richard Gonzalez and wife Mary, Rudy Gonzalez and wife Mary, Carrie Hernandez and husband Rick, Margarita Villarreal, Carla Selvera and husband Phil, and Andrea Gonzalez Solis and husband Benny; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A celebration of Charlie’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Crosby Church in Crosby, Texas, with burial to follow at Sterling-White Cemetery in Highlands.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Charlie’s life was a testament to faith, family, and service. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
