Obituary for Charles James Barr, Jr.
Charles James Barr, Jr., born on September 14, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, to Charles and Pearl Barr, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in Baytown, Texas. He was 79 years old.
A proud and humble man, Charles had a deep love for NASCAR, his truck, and his collection of model cars. He was a dedicated fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and took great joy in spending time with his beloved dogs, Sasha and Chloe. A lover of old country music, Charles found comfort in the simple pleasures of life. He was also known for his appreciation of a good pizza and Janette's cooking, both of which brought him much joy. His dessert of choice was butter pecan ice cream but would take a bowl of chocolate ice cream, as well. His infectious storytelling was a highlight for the nurses at Brighter Days, who will remember him fondly.
Charles was the kind of grandpa everyone would want—kind, respectful, and always with a humble heart. He lived in Dayton, Texas before becoming a longtime resident of Deer Park, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pearl Neal Barr, and his sister, Elizabeth Ann Barr. He is survived by his sister, Ginny Brenner and her children, Mike Brenner and Sean Brenner; niece and nephew, Virginia Brenner and David Brenner, and his best friend, Janette Garcia, along with her husband, Fili.
Visitation will be held at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery, Dayton.
Charles will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
