Obituary

Charles Roy Meade Jr., 84, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026. He was born October 5, 1941, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, to Charles Roy Meade Sr. and Irene Mauk Meade.

Charles was an active member of First Methodist Church of Dayton, where he participated in the Methodist Men and served as a dedicated volunteer with UM Army each summer. He possessed a true servant’s heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was especially known for building wheelchair ramps for friends and community members. 

Charles was a member of the Dayton Historical Society and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. A resident of Dayton for the past 51 years, he previously lived in Pennsylvania. He worked for more than 50 years at Conservatek before retiring.Charles married the love of his life, Marjorie, and they shared 61 wonderful years together. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed attending the sporting events and school activities of his grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffrey Meade; and his brother, Buddy Meade. 

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie Meade; his son, Timothy Meade and wife Shelia; daughters, Patricia Holecek and husband Joe, and Christine Cardiff and husband Jeff; brother, Dennis Meade and wife Thelma; grandchildren, Sarah Barnum and husband Chris, Joshua Holecek and wife Courtney, Julie Tutt and husband Joey, Kellie Holecek, Harrison Cardiff and wife Spencer, Chase Cardiff and wife Sydney, Matthew Meade and wife Natalie, Taylor Dooley and husband Billy, Brittany Meade, and Emily Meade; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Barnum, Harper Barnum, Judson Holecek, Collyns Holecek, Charlie Tutt, Colby Tutt, Liam Arthur, Cassidey Cardiff, Hank Cardiff, Shepard Cardiff, Barrett Cardiff, Sophie Meade, Sawyer Meade, and Willow Meade. 

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Dayton, followed by the funeral service at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Guy Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.Pallbearers will be Matthew Meade, Joshua Holecek, Harrison Cardiff, Chase Cardiff, Chris Barnum, Joey Tutt, and Billy Dooley. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Methodist Church of Dayton or to a charity of your choice.
