Claudia Jean King

Claudia Jean King was born in Cleveland, Texas, on July 7, 1945, to parents Claude Rodger Welch and Sarah Elva Sweeten Welch. She passed away on August 27, 2025, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 80. 

Claudia was born and raised in Cleveland, Texas, before moving to Texas City with her parents, who owned a gas station in Dickinson. She met the love of her life when she was 12 years old, and at 16 she married Johnny King, who preceded her in death. They adopted Michael King as their son and then adopted Patricia King as their daughter. They went on to have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that they adored. Claudia also lived and cared for her baby brother for many years. Claudia always held a special place in her heart for her niece Laura; they were very close. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Rodger and Sarah Elva Welch; her husband, Johnny King; and her sister, Bettie Cook. Claudia is survived by her beloved son, Michael King and wife Terri; beloved daughter, Patricia Ann King; brother, Rocky Welch; beloved grandchildren, Thomas King and wife Kasey, Sarah King, John Michael King; beloved great-grandchildren, Landon, Brantlee, David Allen, Aaron Neil, Kenadee, Kaylynn, Kensley, Gwendalynn, Branson, and Lacey Mae; beloved niece, Laura Garrison. 

Claudia will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Johnny King, at Wells Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas, at a later date.
