With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Cody James Pinkston of New Caney, Texas, who left this world far too soon on May 31, 2025, at the age of 38.
Born on August 26, 1986, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to James and Mary Pinkston, Cody grew up rooted in strong family values and a love for the simple, meaningful things in life. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, a caring son and brother, a fun and protective uncle, and a true and loyal friend to many.
Cody was known by those closest to him as “straight country”—a man who found his peace in the outdoors, joy in a good day’s hunt, and pride in a well-cast fishing line. But above all, Cody found his greatest happiness in being with his family. Whether it was a weekend barbecue, a trip to the woods, or just sitting around telling stories, Cody lived for those moments. He had a big heart, an easy laugh, and a quiet strength that made those around him feel safe and loved.
Cody is survived by his beloved wife, Samantha Pinkston; his children, who were the light of his life, Ryleigh Jean Pinkston and Caleb James Pinkston; his father, James Lewis Pinkston; his sister, Shelley Hannah; and his treasured nieces and nephews: Grace, Shea, Darryl, and Khilee. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large circle of friends who are considered Cody's family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jean Chisum Pinkston; and his grandparents, JB and Versie “Polly” Chisum, and James and Lucy Pinkston.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. A service to honor and celebrate Cody’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. Cody will be laid to rest at Montague Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.
Though his time with us was too short, Cody’s love, laughter, and the memories he created will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
