Curtis Wayne Lewis

Curtis Wayne Lewis was born on July 12, 1960, in Houston, Texas, and passed away on January 4, 2025. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jessica Leigh Lewis of Huntsville, Texas; his father, Billy Jay Lewis of Cleveland, Texas; and his faithful dog, Rosie. Curtis is preceded in death by his mother, Odessa Faye Love Lewis.

A graduate of Cleveland High School, Curtis began his career in the pipeline industry, following in his father’s footsteps. Over the years, his journey took him through various ventures, including attending Sam Houston State University, where he became a proud member of Delta Sigma Phi. Curtis also explored the music industry, radio broadcasting, and live event production before returning to the oil and gas field, earning numerous safety and inspection certifications.

During his college days, Curtis worked at KSAM, a country radio station in Huntsville, and DJed at the Sixteenth Street Station, a local dance bar where he booked live bands. His passion for music connected him to legendary entertainers, including an opportunity to DJ for Willie Nelson at Willie’s Nite Life Bar. Curtis was also a participant in the Grand Entry of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (with KILT). His love of country and rock ‘n’ roll music was matched by his talent as a guitar player and singer.

Curtis lived a life full of adventure, even earning his pilot’s license. Yet, the title he cherished most was "Daddy." He considered fatherhood his greatest accomplishment and always spoke of his daughter with pride and love.

Known for his articulate nature, sharp appearance, and magnetic personality, Curtis was a natural mentor and motivator. Whether giving a pep talk or lending a hand, Curtis was the person everyone turned to for support and encouragement. His kindness, charisma, and willingness to help others made him an irreplaceable friend, colleague, and confidant.

Curtis’s adventures, stories, and love for his family will remain a cherished legacy. He was a proud member of the Lewis family and always celebrated their bond. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

In his honor, let us remember Curtis as a man who lived life with passion, compassion, and an unshakable dedication to those he loved.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 2pm in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating.
