Daniel Lee Story

Daniel Story, 76, of Dayton passed away on February 24, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Daniel was born February 12, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida to William Daniel Story and Edith Alma Franks Story.


Daniel was a Vietnam Veteran as a member of the Army and was awarded several honors for his time in the service. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division 3-187 Infantry Delta Company and was awarded the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Daniel also received a Paratrooper Badge of Honor for Parachuting. He was a local member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.


He was a long-time resident of Dayton, Texas where he enjoyed fishing and he also loved to barbecue. He enjoyed creating barbeque pits with his welding skills and made them for his friends. Daniel retired after working for Powel Electric for many years.


Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie Retherford Story; daughter, Gracie Story; step-daughter, Carolyn Davis.


He is survived by his daughters- Tammy Story and Connie Story; step-son, Douglas Ward; sisters, Carolyn Ann Pitre and husband Clovis, Jewel Faye Story; brother, Arthur M. Story and wife Pamela; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.


A cremains interment will be held at the Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
