Edward Dewey Townsend, III

September 14, 1969 — August 28, 2025

Edward Dewey Townsend III, aka “Eddie” was born on September 14th, 1969, in Indianapolis, Indiana and left us way to soon on August 28th, 2025. Eddie was doing the thing he loved most in life; being with his family, assisting, participating in and watching Christopher race.

Eddie grew up in La Porte, Texas and graduated high school in Indiana while living with his Uncle Ed. He attended Rice Aviation School and proudly served his country for 4 years in the Marine Corps. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for a year, which was sentimental as that is where his father fought in WWII. He moved to Cleveland, Texas in September 2019 to embark on a new business with his best friend, John Whitworth Sr, nephew, John Whitworth Jr, and Thomas Saucedo.

Eddie is survived by his fiancé, Tina Keene, his children Christopher Townsend and girlfriend Shelbie, Dewey Townsend and wife Emma, and Huntyr Martinez. His Granddaughter Tilly Townsend. His siblings, Farris Wayne Townsend, Angel Dawn Townsend, Shelia Straub and husband Brooks, Ginny Whitworth and husband John. His close nieces and nephews: Nicole Whitworth, Waelon, Gus, and Birdie, John Jr, Maegan and Ally Whitworth, Billy Townsend, LeeAnn Townsend, Blaine and Austin, Chris York, Jeff York, Echo Wheeless, Julio, Deztyni, Izabelle, and Julio Jr, Penny, Chris, Olivia and Jax Valadez, Skye Wheeless and Jared, Hailey Townsend, Nyla and Kehlani, and many more grandnieces and grandnephews.

Eddie is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Townsend, Father, Edward Townsend Jr., Uncle Edward Fuquay, brother, William “Bill” Townsend, and grandniece, Kate Whitworth.

We will gather to honor and remember Eddie on Friday, September 5, 2025. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, Texas, with a service to celebrate his life beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital—two causes that were close to Eddie’s heart.
