Esther Geraldine Jordon Hughes, 77, of Rye, died Saturday, September 20, 2014, at her residence.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the First Concord Baptist Church with burial following at the Concord Cemetery in Rye. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.Geraldine was born October 9, 1936 in Hamilton, to parents; Thomas H. Jordon, Sr. and Emma M. McMurtry Jordon, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Rye area for the past 27 years. She was a graduate of the Webster High School class of 1955, a homemaker, and member of the First Concord Baptist Church. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, church activities, gardening, and collecting stamps.Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas H. Jordon, Sr. and Emma M. McMurtry Jordon and sister: Sylvia A. Manshack. She is survived by her husband of 59 years: Selby A. Hughes of Rye, son: James A. Hughes of Rye, daughter: Janice M. Hughes of Sanger, brothers: Thomas H. Jordon, Jr. of Paris, Robert L. Jordon of LaPorte, and Mickey L. Jordon of LaPorte, sisters: Rosie Jordon of Hillsboro and Betty E. Cucco of Tarkington Prairie, grandchildren: Clifford D. Betcher and wife Wynne, Steven A. Hughes and wife Jennifer, and James K. Hughes, great-grandchildren: Grayson Betcher and Fabia Mouton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
