Obituary

Etta Ilene Sims Johnson, 67, passed away on September 24, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1959, in Liberty, Texas.

Etta grew up in Dayton, Texas, where she made many memories throughout her younger years. She was a proud member of the Dayton High School Class of 1977 and participated in the Dayton Bronco Band. She was of the Baptist faith.

Etta had a personality all her own and found happiness in the little things she loved most. She had a special love for jewelry and wind chimes, and she was always happy to find something new on Amazon. Roses were her favorite flower, and she especially appreciated their beauty. Above all, Etta loved her family and treasured the time she shared with those closest to her.

Etta held a special place in her heart for her beloved Chihuahua, Foxy, whom she loved dearly and missed greatly. The companionship and love Foxy brought into her life remained precious to Etta throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Etta Mae Ashley; her mother, Martha Carroll Jackson; her sister, Ivy Joe Eaton; and her sweet puppy, Foxy.

Etta leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Sean Johnson; her daughter, Shannon Pekar and husband Allen; her grandchildren, Destiney Parsons and husband Taylor, and Dominic Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Anastasia “Ana” Parsons and Elizabeth Parsons; her sister, Linda Robinson and husband Harvey; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.

Etta will be remembered for the things that brought her joy, the memories she created throughout her life, and, most of all, the love she shared with her family. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
