Evelyn Jean Gillespie

Evelyn Jean Schmidt Gillespie, 82, of Coldspring, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at the Coldspring United Pentecostal Church with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldspring. Evelyn was born April 24, 1931 in Waller County, to parents; James C., Sr. and Edith I. Schmidt, was a caregiver, and member of the Coldspring United Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Gillespie, daughter: Edith Martin, granddaughters: Jeanne Martin and Jeannette Weathers, grandson: Jeremy Dickerson, father: James Christian Schmidt, Sr., mother: Edith Irene Schmidt, and son-in-law: Neal Dickerson. She is survived by her sons: David Gillespie and Paul Gillespie and wife Nishone, daughters: Barbara Martin and husband Ray, Donna Massey and husband Mac, Susan Koppelberger and husband Ray, Robin Schaeffer and husband Edgar, and Patti Wolsey, sisters: Irma Tarkington, Alma Mathis, and Bonnie Brown, brothers: J. C. Schmidt, Jr. and Maurice Schmidt, 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
