Evelyn Roberts

Mary Evelyn Roberts,84,of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014. She was born in Portageville, Missouri September 2, 1929, to the late George Hector and Mary Ruth Collum McIntosh. Mary was raised in St. Louis,Missouri and graduated from Central High School. She married Cecil G. Roberts in 1993, and they enjoyed 21 years of matrimony. Mary was a beloved member of the community. She was employed by Champion International and was an active member at Rural Shade Baptist Church since February of 2004. Mrs. Roberts loved traveling the United States and cruising with her sister and brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Naomi, Geraldine, and Mildred; brothers, Aubrey, Herman, and Wayne; and daughter-in-law, Wilma Wynn. Survivors include her husband, Cecil G. Roberts; son, George P. Wynn; daughters, Karen S. Urbach and husband Len, Becky J. Dell and husband Tom, Ginger A. Robinson and husband Terry,and Debbie J. Hansen and husband Marty; step-daughter, Alice Hurman and husband Carl; grandchildren, Laura Jernigan and husband Lance, Daniel Wynn, Lisa Atkinson and husband Brian, Lisa Sims and husband Russell, Sandi Urbach, Ben Dell and wife Alyx, Nathan Dell, Solomon Dell, Jennifer Placker and husband Jason, Daniel Bodley, Chloe Adams, Holly Meekins, Ariel Adams, and Ashley Adams; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Jernigan, Jesse Jernigan, Brenden Wynn, Elizabeth Atkinson, Sean Atkinson, Bruce Atkinson, Seth Scroggins, Isaac Evans, Olivia Evans, Kendrick Dell, Millie Dell, Quinn Dell, Logan Placker, Hannah Placker, and Deni Placker; sister, Barbara Bernor and husband Fred; brother-in-law, Carl Roberts and wife Doris; sisters-in-law, Edna Elliot, Jewell Clark, and Helen McRoy and husband Bob; niece, Susan Parent and husband Greg; nephew, Cliff Bernor and wife Sherry; also numerous other friends by which she was well loved. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Pastors Byron Reeves and Melvin Holifield will preside over funeral services held Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Rural Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment following at Cleveland Memorial Park.
