Gary Lee Ladner

September 27, 1943 — September 18, 2025

Gary Lee Ladner passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Gary was born September 27, 1943 in Leesville, Louisiana, where his love for the outdoors first took root. From an early age, he found joy in fishing, a pastime that became a lifelong rhythm, and in working with his hands, whether building, fixing, or tending a garden.

Gary devoted his life to serving people both behind the barber’s chair in Cleveland for 58 years and behind the pulpit for even longer. As a barber, he listened, encouraged, and shared wisdom with every cut. As a pastor, he faithfully preached a fresh Word, prayed for countless hearts, and pointed people toward faith and hope. There were many of his days that he held hands and dried tears of those he served.

Outside of his calling, Gary loved anything outdoors. Mondays were fishing days, a tradition he rarely missed. He could often be found with a hammer in hand, tackling a project, or nurturing his garden with the same care he gave to the people in his life. There were lots of days in dusty rodeo pens encouraging kids and their families. He ministered every where he went.

Gary’s life was also marked by joy and humor. Known for his goofiness as much as his wisdom, he could make others laugh with ease and then, in the same breath, offer words that sank deep into the soul. For 63 years, he shared his life with his beloved wife Joyce, building a home rooted in faith, laughter, and endurance. Together they raised three daughters Guinn, Gina and Kelli, who were his greatest pride. His legacy grew to include six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each of whom knew the warmth of his smile and the strength of his love.

Faith in Christ was the cornerstone of Gary’s life. He lived in a way that left no doubt where his hope was placed. Whether in the shop, the church, or simply in conversation, Gary Ladner sowed seeds of kindness, truth, and grace into everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and steadfast faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Ladner; daughters, Guinette L. Feuerbacher and husband Jeffrey, Regina Lynee Curlee and husband Jeffry W., Kelli Lianne Semar and husband Danial; grandchildren, Jessica Jeter and husband Garrett, Abigail Kellen, Terra Kerr, Grace Semar, Ronald “RJ” Curlee, Raelyn Semar; great-grandchildren, Cailyn Barton, Case Jeter; chosen daughter, Kitten Bowen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Ladner and Richie Brown Ladner; and his brother, Albert Ladner.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 4pm-8pm at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas.
