Gerald Lynn Brinson, 75, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026.
Gerald was born on July 13, 1950, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to James Earl Brinson and Geraldine Elizabeth Lasha LaVergne. He spent his early years in Lake Charles before moving to Dayton, Texas, where he and his beloved wife, Patricia, made their home for the past 45 years. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
Gerald dedicated 34 years of service as a heavy equipment operator, working for Chevron through Zachary until his retirement. He was a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did.
A gifted craftsman, Gerald loved woodworking and building items with his own hands. He spent many years creating swings, picnic tables, and other handcrafted pieces that he sold at local flea markets. Among his favorite accomplishments were a beautiful trellis and an entertainment center that he proudly built for his family. He also enjoyed fishing, tending to his yard, mowing, and caring for his flower beds. Known by family and friends as the best BBQ rib cook around, Gerald never missed an opportunity to share a good meal with those he loved.
Gerald was a natural jokester who delighted in pranking family and friends, always bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went. He especially cherished traveling with Patricia, enjoying road trips and vacations together through the years. He also had a special place in his heart for his faithful dog, CoCo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James Timothy Brinson and David Earl Brinson; his grandson, Christopher Lynn Glass; and his stepfather, Roland Ray LaVergne.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patricia Brinson; daughters, Laura Lynn Fay and husband Mike, Stacy Delaine McGhee and husband Brandon, and Vanessa Terrell Reed and husband Mike; grandchildren, Michael McGlaun, Brandon Reed, Kali Hall, Tori Reed, and Mikayla Hajdik; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gerald's life during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with Minister Ben Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael McGlaun, Brandon Reed, Mike Reed, Mike Fay, Brandon McGhee, Mike Hajdik, and James Hall.
Gerald will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his craftsmanship, his sense of humor, and, above all, the love he shared with his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the memories that will be treasured forever.
