Pete Shaw, age 90, of Texas, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. He was born on June 4, 1935, in San Jacinto County, Texas, to William and Alice Mae Shaw.
Pete was a devoted husband, family man, and faithful member of his community. He married the love of his life, Mary Howard, on June 18, 1960. Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage until her passing. Pete was actively involved in Calvary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. His strong faith and commitment to serving others were evident throughout his life.
Pete also had a deep love for the land and the simple joys of country living. He enjoyed farm life, caring for his cows, and spending time in the peace and quiet of the countryside.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Howard-Shaw; his son, Gerald “Jerry” Shaw; his parents, William and Alice Mae Shaw; his brothers, Richard Shaw, William “Jimmy” Shaw, and Edward “Joe” Shaw; and his sister, Peggy Shaw Hess.
Pete is survived by his nephew, Jimmy Shaw; his nieces, Lisa Hess Coffman, Stacy Shaw Crockett; and his great-nephews and great-nieces, Joe Shaw, Dominique Shaw, Tiffany Nichols-Shaw, Kelley Coffman, Kyle Coffman, William Crockett, Alex Crockett, and Samuel Crockett; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A service to celebrate Pete’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas. Burial will follow at Montague Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.
Pete will be remembered for his steadfast faith, love for his family, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.
