Gilberta Ethel Taylor, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, the day after her birthday, December 8, 1938. She was born to Gilbert and Arlene Taylor and lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to others. Gilberta’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally, holding each one close to her heart. Above all else, her faith in God was the foundation of her life. She trusted Him completely and lived her days guided by love, kindness, and service.
Gilberta had a creative spirit and found happiness in sewing and quilting, pouring love into every stitch. She enjoyed traveling and making memories wherever she went, and she never passed up the chance to dance. When she had spare time, Gilberta volunteered at the food pantry, where she found joy in helping others and meeting new people. Giving back brought her purpose and fulfillment.
Those who knew Gilberta will remember her gentle heart, warm smile, and generous spirit. She had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, and her presence brought comfort and joy. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
Gilberta is survived by her children, Rod Keniry and wife Shelly and Jackie Keniry Heubner; grandchildren, Dale Keniry and wife Wendy, Andrew Keniry and wife Katy, and Brandy Tumey and husband Gregg Myeres; great-grandchildren, Tommy Welch, Devanne Welch, Kason Hildebrant, Bentley Keniry, Cohen Keniry, Kyler Keniry, Kason Smelley, Kadence Keniry, Andrew Keniry, Jr., Jordan Myers, Kylie Myers, and Austin Myers; great-great-grandchildren, Grayson Welch, Isaac Welch, and Cove Myers; sister, Sue Taylor; nieces and nephews, John Taylor, Wendy Taylor, Kevin Staudt, and Angie Staudt Roach; along with many other family members and a host of friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Taylor; mother, Arlene Vanston; and siblings, Lester Taylor and Leona Taylor. Gilberta’s life was a beautiful example of faith, love, and selflessness. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched, and she will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a Celebration of Life honoring Gilberta’s life on Friday, December 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Church in Cleveland, Texas. The service will be officiated by Paige Bostwick. All who knew and loved Gilberta are welcome to come together to celebrate her life, faith, and the love she shared with so many.
