Obituary

Gloria Nell Meinke was born March 9, 1937 in Jackson, Mississippi to parents, Richard L. Axton and Lois Nail Axton. She entered Heaven’s Gates on September 16, 2026 at the age of 89. Gloria enjoyed bowling and fishing and she worked hard in the school cafeteria but her greatest passion was always for her family. She was known as Mamaw to many and she always had a full candy bowl for them. She was a part of the 5th generation, and a member of the Plum Grove Baptist Church and loved the Lord. Gloria married Elo Meinke on April 14, 1956 and they started their family. Her memories will be cherished for a lifetime by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lois Axton; husband, Elo Meinke; brother, Richard E. Axton. She is survived by her beloved children, Brenda May and husband Ed, Michael Meinke and wife Deniese, and Patricia Brown and husband Glaydale; beloved grandchildren, Mashella Brown and Lance, Bubba May and Debbie, Luke May, Kendra McRae and James, Kandis Lee, Cory Brown and fiancé Jennifer Sousa; beloved great-grandchildren, Shelby Bellomy and Westen, Brittney Bachman and Sam, Ashley Nelson and Trey, Kimi Goss and David, Lacey May, Leanna May, Elo May, Joleigh McRae, Zaley McRae, Harley Lee, Madeline Lee, Kade McCunn, Bobby Jenkins, Kaselynn Brown, and Case Brown; beloved great-great grandchildren, Emma Nelson, Faye Nelson, Cooper Goss, Colt Goss, and Bailey Dendy. Visitation will be in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 12-1pm. Funeral Service will begin at 1pm with Bro. Mike Davis and Chaplain Kenneth Faust officiating. Burial will follow in the Splendora City Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be, Bubba May, Luke May, Lance Brown, Cory Brown, Kevin Lee, and James McRae. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jimmy Steede.
