Hilda Marie DeSpain, born September 17, 1942, in Gilbertown, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2026.

Hilda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family was the center of her world, and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than anything. Caring for those she loved brought her great joy. She was always making sure everyone was taken care of, often showing her love through a home-cooked meal, a helping hand, and the warmth and comfort that only she could give.

Hilda has now been reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, her beloved husband, Larry Warren DeSpain, as well as her daughters, Teresa Kay DeSpain and Jennifer Leah DeSpain Hansbro; her parents, John and Mamie Conner; and her brothers, Bill Conner, Herold Conner, and John Conner. Though saying goodbye is difficult, there is comfort in knowing she is once again surrounded by loved ones who went before her.

She is survived by her son, Bobby DeSpain and wife Loretta; her grandchildren, Richard Ivins, Jr. and fiancée Jana Marcussen, Seth Hansbro, Katy Rice and husband Jakie, Kirsten DeSpain-Dawe and husband Wesley Dawe, Emily DeSpain and fiancé Dustin Conklin, Kristen Martin, and Kandance Blackstock; and her great-grandchildren, Richard “Tripp” Ivins III, Peter Rice, Karson Jones, Jaymen Allen, Blake Martin, Beaux Martin, Evelyn Blackstock, Lindy Jo Conklin, and Violet Rice.

She is also survived by her sisters, Carolyn Malone and husband Edwin, and Eva Conner, along with many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Hilda leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, faith, and caring for others. Those who knew her will remember the meals she prepared, the care she gave so freely, and the love she poured into her family throughout her life.

Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love she gave will remain in the hearts of her family forever. She will be missed by many, loved always, and never forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Hilda. You are home with the Lord and reunited with those you loved so dearly.
