Hollis Daniel Harp, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on November 7, 1940, to Eugene and Lockie Harp, Hollis lived a life defined by love, hard work, strength, and devotion to his family.

Hollis was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He loved his family more than life itself and would do whatever it took to provide for them. At times, he worked two jobs to make sure his children never went without and always had everything they needed. No matter the circumstance, he never missed an opportunity to tell those he loved just how much they meant to him.

A man of few words, Hollis believed actions spoke louder than anything else. And when he did speak, his family knew they could “take it to the bank.” He was dependable, honest, and strong — the kind of man people leaned on. Hollis could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He built the family home with his own hands and could fix or build just about anything, whether it was a house, a car, or something that simply needed repairing. If someone needed help, Hollis was always there.

He loved playing golf and, in his younger years, enjoyed hunting. But above all else, his greatest pride and joy was his family. He was more than a father — he was a hero and a best friend to those who loved him most. He taught his children morals, standards, and values that shaped the people they became. His son credits him for making him the man he is today, and his daughters became the wonderful women they are because of the love, guidance, and example he gave them every day.

Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his family finds peace and comfort in knowing he is reunited once again with his beloved wife, Viola Harp, whom he loved dearly.

Hollis is survived by his loving and faithful children: Pamela and Trey Mach, Cindy Harp and Julie Harvell, Sandra McShan, and Hollis, Jr. and Terri Harp; his brother, Ruben Harp, Sr.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Viola Harp; his father, Eugene Harp; his mother, Lockie Paige; sisters, Georgie Ladd and Elsa Gene; and brothers, William “Bill” Harp and Burt Harp.

Hollis leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
