Johnny Carroll “JC” Cloyd

Johnny Carroll “JC” Cloyd was born on May 20, 1944, in Cleveland, Texas, to Elmer Carroll Cloyd and Sadie Mae Moses Cloyd. He passed away peacefully in Tyler, Texas, on June 17, 2025, at the age of 81.

JC was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robert Earl Cloyd and Troy Elmer Cloyd; and his sister, Joy Beatrice Cloyd.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carol Cloyd; his loving daughters, Candace Adams and husband Dennis Adams, and Penny Cloyd and wife Cindy Jo Hill-Cloyd; his cherished grandson, Joshua Cole Hill-Cloyd; and his sisters, Joann Foster and husband Arnold Foster, and Lynn Allen. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

JC loved his family dearly. As the patriarch of the Cloyd family, many sought him out for his advice, wisdom, and steady presence. He was a natural problem-solver and a loyal friend. He treasured celebration—whether it was an intimate gathering with his immediate family or a joyful Easter reunion that brought relatives from near and far to his home. JC had a gift for making people feel welcome and loved, and his home was often the heart of family connection.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Squier Cemetery, with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of JC and Carol’s favorite charities, P.E.T.S. (People for the Ethical Treatment of Strays). You can donate online at https://linktr.ee/CrockettPETS.
