Jack Lee Taylor, 85, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026. He was born on September 17, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, to Fred Clifton Taylor and Billie Jean Massey.
Jack lived in Crosby, Texas, for more than 50 years and was formerly a resident of Denver, Colorado. He was a faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene in Baytown, Texas, and deeply loved attending church. His faith was an important part of his life and guided the way he loved and cared for others.
Jack enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, playing guitar, and singing. He loved watching westerns, listening to gospel music, and spending quiet mornings drinking coffee on the porch. He took great joy in coaching his girls’ softball teams and later watching his grands and great-grands participate in sports and theater.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Clifton Taylor and Billie Jean Massey, and his sister, Sharon Kay Raybon.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Janet Taylor; his children, Greg Taylor and wife Teresa, Tamra “Tammy” Walters and husband Jess, Jeannine Ferrill, and Vickie McAnally and husband Robert; his sisters, Joann Turner, Christine Corwin and husband Cliff, and Kathy Williams.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Justin Walters and wife Aaron, Jessica Kelly and husband Josh, Amanda Bauman and husband Curt, Brittany Givans and husband David, Cody McAnally, Amber Robertson and husband Roi, Cheyanna Taylor, Christopher McAnally and wife Ana, Morgan Ferrill, and Cadie McAnally; and by his great-grandchildren: Levi, Grayson, Layna, Landri, Grady, Brenham, Brecklyn, Brylyn, Peyton, J.J., Presley, Brooks, Rawlins, and Raleigh.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with burial afterward at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton.
Pallbearers will be Justin Walters, Josh Kelly, Cody McAnally, Christopher McAnally, Morgan Ferrill, and Curt Bauman. Honorary pallbearers are Levi Walters and Grayson Kelly.
Jack will be remembered for his strong faith, gentle spirit, love of family, and the many quiet moments of joy he shared with those around him.
