Obituary

Jacolyn “Jackie” Louise McKenzie, 83, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully after a long and full life. She was born January 18, 1942, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to John R. Kruth and Madeline Brew.

Jackie spent 20 years working at Rogers Pharmacy, where her warm smile and kindness were familiar to so many. A woman of quiet faith, she cherished her time studying the Bible with close friends. Jackie also had a lifelong love of jewelry and  antiques—passions she shared with the community through her resale shop, Georgia’s Treasures, in Liberty. Her appreciation for antique glasswork was especially unique, and she delighted in finding beauty in items with a history. Jackie lived in Dayton for 52 years and was formerly a resident of Jacinto City, Texas. She had a gift for making people feel welcome; if you were Jackie’s friend, you were family. Her home was always open, and her heart even more so. She was married to the love of her life, Billy McKenzie, for 57 blessed years. Together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and strength.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Kruth; and her brothers, William Kruth and George Kruth. She is survived by her husband, Billy McKenzie; her daughter, Angela Lee Sales, and husband Richard; her grandchildren, Alexandra Black and Audrey Sailer, and husband Trey; and her great-grandchildren, Addison, Maddi, and Gus, Westin, William, Cammie, who brought her immense joy.

A memorial service honoring Jackie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Jackie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory—warm, generous, and full of love—will live on in the countless lives she touched.
