Obituary for James Hal Norwood
James Hal Norwood, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025. Born on May 14, 1946, in Liberty, Texas, James was the son of Hal Norwood and Lois Law. He was raised in Dayton, where he graduated with the Dayton High School Class of 1964. He later pursued higher education at the University of Houston.
James shared a remarkable life with his beloved wife of 54 years, Debbie Norwood. Together, they built their home in Manvel, Texas, where they have resided for the past 47 years after previously living in Houston. James was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose kindness and humor touched the lives of many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Lois Norwood; his son-in-law, Rusty Tronicek; and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Alexander, Roger LeBlanc, and J.E. Melancon.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie Norwood; loving daughter, Shannon Tronicek; cherished grandchildren, Sarah Lynn Tronicek and Leighton, Emma Josephine Tronicek, and Eli James Tronicek; and his great-grandchild, Brannigan Lee Tronicek. He also leaves behind his sisters, Joyce Alexander, Judy Melancon, Mary Davis and husband W.M., and Freida Warren and husband Sandy; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with interment at Linney Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Houston Area Parkinson Society, 2700 SW Freeway, Suite 300, Houston, Texas 77098.
James will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
