Obituary

James “Buck” Potter, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 11, 2026, in Cleveland, Texas. He was born on June 11, 1943, to Ephram and Martha Potter.

Buck was a man whose life was richly blessed by a large and loving family. Throughout the years, he watched his family grow from children to grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating generations of memories that will continue to carry his name and legacy forward. His presence will be deeply missed by those who loved him, but the memories, stories, and special moments shared with Buck will remain in their hearts for years to come.

Buck was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ephram and Martha Potter; and his brother, Billy Potter.

He leaves behind his beloved children, Mary Lynn Evans, Sheila Reed, Bo Potter and wife Jennifer, Connie Chapman and husband Jason, and Tony Potter and wife Denita; grandchildren, Denise Rollish, Christopher Evans, Duaine Evans, Russell Reed, Chad Potter, Cody Potter, Chase Potter, Dakota Chapman, Brian Potter, Cole Potter, and Cade Potter; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Buck is also survived by his siblings, Ephram “Big Boy” Potter Jr., Jeri “PeeWee” Potter Moore, Ageriea “Sally” Potter, and Bobby Potter; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Although Buck’s passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his legacy lives on through the many generations of family he leaves behind. He will be remembered with love and greatly missed.

A visitation honoring Buck’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas.
