Janet Lynn Hopkins

It is with love and remembrance that we share the passing of Janet Lynn Hurlbut Hopkins, who was called to her heavenly home on August 18, 2025, at the age of 65. She was born on March 8, 1960, in Houston, Texas, to her parents D.C. and Virginia Ellington Hurlbut.

She was raised on Tarkington Prairie in Cleveland, Texas, and graduated from Tarkington High School, where she was very active in FHA and graduated with honors. She was also a member of Oak Shade Baptist Church, located on Tarkington Prairie, in Cleveland, Texas.

Janet was a hard worker, a dedicated wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother. After retiring, she was able to spend more time doing the things that she loved, such as spending more time with family and friends, and working in her garden. During this time she became a Master Gardener, and you could always find her in her garden tending to her beautiful plants and flowers. Anyone who knew her was touched by her sweet and caring soul. Her loving nature and beautiful smile will never be forgotten.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are comforted to know that she is now at peace and that her love will continue to live on in each of us. Her love, devotion, and dedication to her family and others will always be remembered by all who loved her.

Janet is preceded in death by her father, D.C. Hurlbut, and grandparents, Irwin and Jewel Ellington, Barney and Naomi Hurlbut.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory Hopkins; daughter, Julie Casper Childress; stepdaughter, Jennifer Hopkins Repstock; stepsons, Brian and Kevin Hopkins; mother, Virginia Ellington Hurlbut; brother, Michael Hurlbut and sister-in-law, Nan; sister, Donna Hurlbut Bailey and brother-in-law, Dan; grandson, Jeremiah Allen; nephew, Corey Smith and a host of other family members and friends.

The date for Janet's Memorial Service will be announced soon, and we invite all who loved her to join in celebrating her remarkable life.
