Janette lived a full life. Her work experience included the following: a brief stint as a teller in Morgan City; a seamstress at Meaux’s sewing and fabric store in New Iberia; a secretary at Perry J. Burke concrete plant, also in New Iberia; a secretary at Barclay Oil and Gas in Houma; a pediatric nurse at the practice of Gerald Derouen, also in Houma.

During her lifetime, Janette’s spirituality and religious beliefs were the essence of her being. She attended numerous churches, with a variety of denominations. She was Catholic at first, and then Methodist, and finally Baptist. She loved, above all, a sermon with a “good message.” She believed in the resurrective power of Jesus Christ, and lived her life with an enthusiastic and infectious positivity. Whether enduring life’s challenges, or celebrating its joys, she was accustomed to say, “This too shall pass,” and “God is good.” She brought a persevering smile to all of her endeavors and appreciated life’s many joys.

Adept at locating a four-leaf clover with merely a passing glance, and blessed to win the quarter slot machine on the way out the door, Janette’s greatest gift was her joy and appreciation of all that life afforded her. She loved being amidst a gathering of people sharing laughter, as much as she did shopping in the local mall.

Upon becoming a nonagenarian, Janette was accustomed to remark, “I have had a good life.” Even in her final days she lived with a joyous smile. She bequeaths to her children and grandchildren a powerful joie de vivre, a positive spirit, and a willingness to greet each day with a smile.

She will be missed dearly, but her spirit remains in those that knew and loved her. Janette was “all heart.”
