Jarmilla Mary Green, age 94, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025. She was born on January 22, 1931, in Eastgate, Texas, to Louis and Emile Smikal.
Jarmilla was a lifelong resident of Dayton and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She lived a simple, hardworking life and was known for her quiet strength, discipline, and deep devotion to her family. Jarmilla lovingly cared for four generations of boys, spoiling them endlessly and always making sure they had everything they wanted. Her love and generosity were constants in their lives.
She was hardworking until the very end, famously push-mowing her yard at the age of 92. Jarmilla handmade all of her clothes, took pride in being extremely organized, and always had instructions ready knowing exactly where everything belonged. From her back window, she faithfully kept watch over the neighborhood, always aware of what was going on around her.
Jarmilla was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Emile Smikal; her beloved husband, Vernon Green; and many of her siblings.
She is survived by her son, James Green; her sister, Barbara Owler, and her husband Marvin; her grandchildren Trevor Neale and wife Jeannine, Kelley Green and wife Allison, Johnathan Green and wife Stacey; great-grandchildren Craig Neale and wife Brittany, Rhett Neale, Carson Green, Elliana Green, Mason Green, and Aubrey Green; and her great-great-grandchildren Cullen Neale and Tyler Neale.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Palms Memorial Cemetery in Dayton, Texas.
Jarmilla Mary Green will be remembered for her unwavering work ethic, her careful ways, her watchful eye, and the immense love she gave to her family.
