Jerry Youngblood, 73, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on December 3, 2025. Born on December 9, 1951, in Liberty, Texas, Jerry was the beloved son of Roy and Maxine Youngblood. He grew up in Liberty and graduated as valedictorian of the Liberty High School Class of 1970.
A dedicated scholar, Jerry went on to attend Rice University, where he earned his master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with honors in 1975. Shortly after graduation, he began a long and accomplished career in chemical engineering beginning with Shell Oil. His work took him to New Orleans, Houston, and Oklahoma City, where he excelled in his field and built lasting professional and personal relationships. He concluded his 33-year career after retiring from Devon Energy.
Upon retirement in 2023, Jerry relocated to Twin Falls, Idaho, to be near family. During his retirement, he discovered a love for chess, enjoying many hours of friendly competition and learning alongside his brother-in-law.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roy Allen Youngblood. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Keeter, and her husband, Dr. Andy Keeter; his nephews, Samuel Neil Keeter and wife Chelan, Thomas Andrew Keeter, and William Daniel Keeter and wife Harley; as well as three great-nephews and two great-nieces, all of whom brought joy to his later years.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 at Cooke Cemetery in Liberty, Texas.
Jerry will be remembered for his sharp mind, gentle spirit, and quiet dedication to those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, hard work, and devotion to family.
